Welsh secondary school closure

I've just seen that Welsh secondary schools are closing Friday and going online next week. Are there any Welsh primary school teachers here that might know if they plan to do this with the younger children as well? I'm thinking of putting childcare plans in place just in case because they don't seem to be giving much notice.

All secondary schools in Wales?

Ymlaen · 10/12/2020 16:25

It's probably a good idea as long as they don't hang out together.

frosted232 · 10/12/2020 16:25

I believe so according to my MP and Welsh media outlets.

Primary school teachers will have no more information than you.

Not primary or special schools.

God it’s a bit last minute.

Is it a secondary school?

@noblegiraffe this is what I thought. It's a bit easier with childcare when they are secondary school but I hope if they decide to close primary schools they'll give a bit of notice. I've got no objection to them closing, it's just a bit short notice when you are working yourself.

Be interested to see what they do with primaries. I'm going to keep my primary aged kid off and give her school work to do now her siblings will be home.

Any chance the downing st press conference will be announcing the same for England?!

PurpleDaisies · 10/12/2020 16:40

They kept primary schools open but closed secondary schools over part of the firebreaker lockdown.

No.

There is a press conference every week. This is just that.

My primary kids have 3 days next week but I've decided tomorrow will be their last day. We got an email from the headteacher basically saying they are happy for parents to keep them off.

Decisions about primary schools are being decided at LA level

ArosAdraDrosDolig · 10/12/2020 23:21

Our primary has said they don’t expect them in but will be open if parents need to send them. So it’s optional really. And absence will be authorised.
