@RMRM

I think, having seen the letter from Havering Council, they would like to shut the schools on Friday, but are bound by the government.
@AcornAutumn No I didn’t . I was still furlough so didn’t go out apart from walking the dog . I didn’t see friends or family

@RMRM my daughters school have sent an email asking if we intend to send our children in last WEEK of term , I think you’re onto something when you say the schools may shut before hand
I think they’re gathering a general consensus

Also as an aside slightly , my cousins is in a school bubble and a child has tested positive within that bubble
My cousin has to self isolate , his mother is adamant he can still go to his dads house ..that wrong isn’t it ?

Yes, but Essex will be Tier 3 on 16th too.

Everyone gets the 5 days relative freedom at Christmas, regardless of tiers which is madness

Children are still able to move between parents regardless of their isolation status. Whether it's wise is another thing, but it's allowed.
Waxonwaxoff0 · 09/12/2020 19:49

Yes. I am similar in that I have a Nottingham postcode but a Derbyshire council so I fall under Derbyshire rules.

DianaT1969 · 09/12/2020 19:53

@AcornAutumn - why didn't you see your mum and sisters in the summer? Was that their choice to shield or yours? No walks with friends? Do it this week.

Chewbecca · 09/12/2020 19:58

Essex is very likely to go at the same time anyway.

Borders with no land gap are always going to be tricky.

That’s not me, it’s the OP. I saw who I could in summer but sadly that was only a few as many of my friends carried on seeing no one.

OP, sorry if being thick but I don’t get the connection with furlough?

Frazzled2207 · 09/12/2020 20:21

depends who you pay your council tax to, not your postcode. But sadly I expect both London and Essex county to become tier 3.

HaveANiceFuckingDay · 09/12/2020 20:25

My choice not to .. cases still rife I decided not to take the chance as my grandson has respiratory issues
I just tacked furlough on as if the government thought retailers should be shut then the consensus was still to risky.
I'm happy to isolate, stick me on an island with no inhabitants, access to money for food and plenty of books I'll be right Grin

AcornAutumn · 09/12/2020 20:36

@HaveANiceFuckingDay

And tier 3 would mean the 5 days relaxation over Christmas goes out the window doesn’t it ? (Hope so , don’t want to see any family anytime soon )
Sorry, I missed this post

So you’re hoping not to see anyone...you’ll need to be blunt as it is allowed over Xmas, regardless of tiers.

Srslydontgiveacrap · 09/12/2020 20:42

?

Honestly! You have chosen not to see anyone since Feb? When there was no good reason to go 10 months not seeing them. You don't want to see them, that's slightly different. You want your area to go into Tier 3 to help with this??

I despair, I really do. Most of us are desperate to see friends and family.

AndcalloffChristmas · 09/12/2020 20:48

Christmas is the same whatever tier you’re in.

As others have said, all London boroughs are London, but it doesn’t matter because if London goes, Essex will too.

We are Croydon and CR postcode but still London borough.

It’s not totally sure London will gontontier 3. The economic consequences are enormous and that’s what everyone is frightened of, hence so many stories on London. Also London has got hospital space.

AcornAutumn · 09/12/2020 22:24

OP just curious

You have local sisters, so if, god forbid, you broke your leg or something, would you expect them to help out?

AnastasiaS · 09/12/2020 22:28

I’m in Havering too, just had notification today my children’s school is closed until January.

Are they teaching online at all?
HaveANiceFuckingDay · 10/12/2020 08:53

@AcornAutumn
No , I say local, 8 miles , neither drive , I can rely on others to help
They fucked me up mentally during lockdown 1 , im still struggling to recover ..theres history, that was the icing on the cake
Anyway I dont want to divert this into family matters .
Nick Ferrari said this morning on LBC that it's likely we are going into tier 3 .. 23 out of 32.london boroughs are high ? Something around that figure anyway. If the PP says their child's school is closed until January then that's a headteacher decision right ?

Gosh. Is that a week early?
HaveANiceFuckingDay · 10/12/2020 08:56

@AcornAutumn
My daughters school didn't give her hardly any work last time yet a mile up the road the school was giving my friends children too much ..online work isnt all its cracked up to be
I'm no teacher but I struggled to homeschool her last time

Oh, that’s completely different then.

AnastasiaS · 10/12/2020 14:28

@AcornAutumn they are setting work online, basically the parents become teachers - no zoom lessons or anything like that. Would make things so much easier.
Currently COVID positive and not well at all so it’s a struggle to keep up with it all!

ClaireP20 · 13/12/2020 04:58

Hi OP, Havering too - we had a letter today from both my boy's schools (primary and secondary) that they could choose to stay at home this week. I'm taking them out of school. The school have put in place home schooling, and we'll do some of that each day. I agree the Christmas Bubbles are madness. I already have issues with family wanting to meet up and saying 'it doesn't matter if you see one more..who will know' etc. We're spending Christmas alone as a family, and still working out how to manage other family members. We're going to stick to the rules though and do our bit! Xx

Wishing you a speedy recovery - it is a struggle but honestly they don't do much in the last week of term so just concentrate on getting better, not home schooling. You're ill, they can watch tv! Hope you'll be ok!

I find it really strange that with all the talk of London and Essex that no one has mentioned Hertfordshire. My PIL live in an area of Herts that has more than three times the rate of infection than the area of North Essex that I live in. However, no one seems to be calling for them to be put into tier 3.
