Not seeing family until vaccine

Hello as a family we have decided not to see our respective families until we are vaccinated.
We live in a tier one area separate to family they are tier two they wont adhere to sd and will expect kisses and hugs etc my family have kindly accepted this but my partners parents have really hit the roof.
They are blaming me and calling my partner names. We have three small children and are miles from family and if we were to fall ill we basically have each other so we've made the hard decisions not to see them as we are so close now to this all being over.

Is anyone else choosing to be separate from family this Christmas due to risks?

By the way the pneumococcal vaccine only offers protection (50- 70%) against that 1 type of pneumonia, caused by pneumococcus, and not against all the others.

We have done the same. I do not want covid at all or want to give it to anyone else . My extended family are also very relaxed about following the rules . I am a healthcare worker and do not want this at all or for those i love to get it either

@Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady I think when people finally see their elderly relatives that they've tried so hard to "protect", they will be shocked. The best part of a year of isolation has taken its toll. I don't know anyone who has lost an older relative with covid but a number who have just given up and died. So sad.

I will meet people outdoors only OP until the vaccines reach us all. Everyone pretending it's fine to pretend there's no dangerous virus over Christmas is fooling themselves and they know it too. That's exactly why they get so angry with those of us who choose to be careful.

I don’t see anyone doing that.

People are weighing up risks and benefits and making decisions. For some people the risk of Covid isn’t worth the sacrifices being made (and that includes the CV).

We take risks every single day that could have disastrous results. It’s life.

@Yippeeforme That's not the case at all. I have no issues with people behaving like you do, I just dont choose to do it myself.
