Nursery case - do we need to isolate?

Just had an email from DD’s nursery saying a member of staff has tested positive and it will now shut for 14 days.
Do we (me, DH, DD and baby DS) also need to isolate for 14 days? DD has no symptoms.

Has your dd had close contact (less than 2m) for more than 15 mins? If so she needs to isolate.

Your child will have to isolate for the two weeks. The rest of you won’t. Unless she develops symptoms. In which case all self isolate and child need to be tested.

Oh God... she’ll go spare if she has to stay inside for 2 weeks! (So will I). Fingers crossed it’s not a case from her room. I expect the nursery will be back in touch with us with more details. What a ballache.

DD needs to stay home for 14 days from the last time she was with the +ve case. The rest of you can go about your business as close to usual as possible.

Did they not advise you when they told you? Seems like they have only given half a story.

If the child is in your child's bubble then your child would need to isolate for 14 days from the last day of contact with the positive child. No other household members need to.

You need to ask the nursery if your child has had direct contact with the person who tested positive. If so, child needs to isolate (but not test of family). If not, no one does. All hangs on whether the person who tested positive is actually a direct contact of your child or not.

Apparently it’s a member of staff who’s tested positive. They’ve just said they will close for 14 days but no mention of if we need to isolate. It says they’ll be in touch again soon.
TBH in a way it makes going to my parents’ at Christmas a bit easier if DD has had 2 weeks without nursery.

Depends on how close your child was to member of staff. If they work in same room then probably yes. The nursery will be able to tell you. When ours shut they were quite explicit about who needs to self isolate and for how long.

It says they’ll be in touch again soon.

There’s your answer, they will tell you!
