What will you do when covid is gone?

Just for fun and a general nosey.

If everyone was vaccinated and/or covid disappeared, here is my list of things I would do.

Visit my 6 week old niece - havent met her yet.

Spend time with all of my siblings and their families.

Have a brew with my mum and dad.

Catch up with friends. Board game night needed asap.

Go to a pub (I don't even drink, I just want the vibe).

Mooch around the local shops in the nearby seaside town - they are mostly independent shops and I have wanted a browse for years but the kids would be bored so I haven't yet.

Go to a music festival in summer.

Start going to gigs (haven't been to one in years).

Take my kids to London - eldest has been harping on about this all lockdown. We live in the north.

Visit my relatives in the south. This could tie in nicely with said London trip.

Go on a well deserved holiday abroad. Don't care where, but I've not been abroad in years and not holidayed at all since 2017.

Visit friends in Scotland.

Nothing like a pandemic to make you realise how much you miss having freedom.

What would everyone else do?

go to Amsterdam to visit my adult ds who moved there in July
visit my elderly parents
have my sister come to stay
go out for a meal with our whole household family - all 7 of us(me, dh and 5dc). Even when restaurants were open where we are nowhere would let us have a table for more than 6, even though we all live together!
Go out for a meal with dh
book a trip to a west end show
go to the cinema
go for a wander around waterstones followed by stopping for a starbucks with my new book
be able to take anual leave without it being cancelled to cover lack of staff (NHS clinician!)
Not work loads and loads of overtime
catch up on my sadly neglected household tasks (see above re overtime!)
sleep - lots!

We’ve booked Disneyland Paris for next year and I am 99% sure i’m going to cry when I see my daughters face when we get there 😍

We’ve also booked another holiday for May 🤞🏻

The people who can't wait to get back to the office blow my mind. Honestly. Hang out all day with a bunch of people you haven't chosen to, in a soulless office at the end of a commute and buy a pret sandwich? No thanks.

Some of us like the people we work with! And I bring my own lunch. Can understand why you wouldn't want to go back if you don't get on with your colleagues though.

megletthesecond · 07/12/2020 10:21

I won't mind going back to the office as long as I can WFH 2 or 3 days a month. I've always walked and taken my own lunch.
It'll be nice to use the printer again.

@kittensarecute Daffodil I am sorry you feel this way and can assure you, you are not alone. x

Woahisme · 07/12/2020 10:43

I think wfh will become a lot more common from now on even after covid. It will help reduce carbon emissions massively. Unfortunately my job is on site and can't be done from home so I went back to work in August. I am thankful to be employed at the moment. And I do like seeing my work mates. It's the only social life I have right now.

Go to theme parks whenever we like without having to plan and prebook months in advance. Go to the 5 European theme parks we had cancelled this year!

I'd not do much different but I would like to browse some shops and hang out with my parents.

I'd much rather sit in an office than be squashed between the dining table and the sideboard. It's ok for those who've got a home office but I feel I can't switch off as I'm sitting in the same room as my work stuff all the time.

Once this is over I'm going to hug my uncle, book an overseas holiday, keep everything crossed that Bruce Springsteen tours again and go for a wander around the shops. I can't wait!
