‘Celebs’ flouting rules

TessApricot · 06/12/2020 19:39

I’ve spent the day in bed with an upset tummy so have had more time than is healthy on Instagram looking at random ex TOWIE/Love Island types’ profiles.
Sooo many are just out and about as normal and not making any effort to hide it! I’ve seen parties, people sat in restaurants drinking shots definitely not with their own household etc. Also a ton of them are in Dubai at the moment but I assume that’s allowed.

I’m past being annoyed about it (even though I have lost a parent during the pandemic and STILL followed all the rules about social distancing etc) but I’m surprised they’re being so open about it?!

Rita Ora wins the biggest dickhead prize for holding a 30th birthday party

discodave88 · 06/12/2020 19:44

Yeah and also Rita Ora was supposed to quarantine as she had just arrived home from Egypt. But it's okay. £10000 is nothing to get Hmm

discodave88 · 06/12/2020 19:44

Her*

PurpleDaisies · 06/12/2020 19:45

Is it any wonder people behave like this after Dominic Cummings? Boris Johnson looked like a rank hypocrite criticising Rita Ora for her party.

Celebs obviously shouldn’t be behaving like this but plenty of ordinary people are doing the same. Expecting a higher standard from them is unrealistic. What really needs to happen is proper enforcement of the law anc fines.

TessApricot · 06/12/2020 19:49

I know lots of people who are breaking the rules but they’re not advertising it on public profiles. That’s no better I realise! Completely agree about Cummings - that fiasco was a few weeks after my father’s death and it made a complete mockery of us observing the rules rigidly. Angry

Let’s not pretend the love islanders and alike are flouting the rules because of Dominic Cummings- bet less than half know who he is. They are doing it because they think they are immune, they don’t want to sacrifice their lives and they make their money from posting about their lives.

Sorry but ranting again. I’ve seen even more z listers showing off nights out on Instagram. Drinking, dancing, late into the night with non household members. Are these establishments just completely breaking the law to allow this?

I read something the other day that said if something is illegal and punishable by a fine, it’s basically just legal for rich people. It was worded better than that, but it’s true. 10k is a drop in the ocean to them, and they will probably earn more from exposure during that time so they are not losing out.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 12/12/2020 19:02

Yep, it's incredibly annoying. Even just seeing pictures of them not social distancing from their friends. Many Z listers just fucked off to Dubai when lockdown was announced to get out of following the rules.

Yes, these people's entire lives revolve around trying to make their lives look interesting. Sat at home watching Netflix and baking cakes won't cut it for long.

If they're in Dubai or out the UK then it's up to the authorities in their country to decide.

If they are in the UK then these places need closing down and the book thrown at them. Contact the authorities if there's businesses taking the piss here because they'll cause deaths and more closed businesses for the next lockdown.

Fizbosshoes · 13/12/2020 09:11

Sky have taken Kay Burley off air for 6 months after she broke corona virus rules. (Although I admit shes not really the same as a TOWIE or love island celeb)
Not that I particularly follow her but I've seen Katie Price had hair/nails done during the November lockdown when this wasnt permitted for "normal" folk
But maybe it's just more visible when celebs break the rules and are stupid enough to post about it. They arent morally superior to anyone else, some will abide by the rules, some won't, just more people will see it than if Bob down the road, who doesnt have insta, went for a pub crawl with 6 mates, or Lorraine had her hair done in lockdown.

User158340 · 13/12/2020 11:16

The thing with Burley is her position as a political interviewer right now is untenable. She and Sky News wouldn't be taken seriously holding the government to account if she was still on air.

Moronic celebrities and social media influencers' whole identity is based around showing off a glamorous lifestyle on social media

WankPuffins · 13/12/2020 11:33

Some of the smaller influencers can't hack it either. A few have been caught out (brummymummyof2 was one of them), they moan about having nothing to do now. You realise how much of their content is freebie days out and holidays. When they can't do that, their content is dire.

Lazypuppy · 13/12/2020 11:40

Plenty of people are breaking the rules, but obviously celebs are in the public eye so get caught out
