Delayed test results

Dd and I both had covid tests on Tuesday morning. Dd developed symptoms on Monday night and i had been suffering from a sore throat and awful head cold. The sore throat had given me a bit of a cough and the blocked nose meant my sense of smell was affected a little by the blocked nose. I dount it's covid I decided to be safe and book myself a test seeing dd was getting one to be safe as i work on a school with no distancing with the pupils in the bubbles I work in. DD's results were back at 6am Wednesday morning however now it's Saturday and there is no sign of mine.
Has anyone else waited this long for results and they have still come through at this late stage without an investigation? (which they won't start til Monday)
It's so frustrating. I've missed nearly a week of work and my dc are missing out on crucial schooling, my puppy is going out of her mind. My colleague tested on Thursday and had her results back the same day. Obviously if I do happen to be positive , then so be it We need to stay in, it would be easier to accept if i knows though - but if that's the case there are over 60 people in school and mixing in the community for days who should be at home isolating. If I'm not then we are here for no reason. All dd's birthday plans have had to be cancelled and I had to cancel my first hair appointment since February and no chance of being fitted in again this year. Sorry about the rant but I'm annoyed. Don't expect any solutions for that. Just looking for hope that the results might still come through over the weekend and won't have to wait days and miss more work and school while the track it down.

You should have had a bit of card given to you with a number to ring incase you didn't receive them within a certain time period.
My time period was to ring if they weren't back within 48hours.
I know others have been longer.

midnightstar66 · 05/12/2020 11:32

Yes I have that and rang after 48 hours . All they could do was confirm that my test had been registered. They can't actually chase results til day 6 which is Monday. I checked the nhs website which confirmed that was correct.

We were in a very similar situation back in the autumn. Absolute nightmare and so frustrating. Our missing result did arrive eventually, but it was a stressful week.

One of my DC is booked in for a test today as he has symptoms and I'm dreading another long wait.

midnightstar66 · 05/12/2020 12:21

@RoseTintedBlue fingers crossed because as a whole they seem to be returning very quickly. Sometimes the same day. Did you have to chase yours or did it suddenly appear? I've a feeling they must have lost it somehow.

We did chase, no idea whether it made a difference though!

Really hope you get your results back soon.

6 days here

But no symptoms - weekly routine testing. Seems a pointless exercise if it takes this long!

midnightstar66 · 05/12/2020 18:55

@shesellsseashells99 is that with no results yet or when you got them? Exactly- it's pointless, the isolation period will be over by the time results as in which may be for nothing or may have left close to an awful lot of people mixing that shouldn't be for many days. My symptoms were mild, I'd not have tested if I hadn't been taking dd and it's put me off doing so again!

Yep, my colleague last week had been waiting for a week and ended up getting a second test.

midnightstar66 · 05/12/2020 19:34

I did wonder of getting a second test would be the quickest option.
