Have you been invited to have the vaccine yet?

I have close family and friends working in the NHS in a variety of patient facing roles and yet none of them have been contacted about getting the vaccine yet. Has anyone heard of someone who has?

is the vaccine ready to be given yet?

@MrsTwitcher

is the vaccine ready to be given yet?
It’s coming through the channel tunnel right now.
Greenglassteacup · 03/12/2020 13:09

It’s too early, nobody has been given a date yet

DisgruntledPelican · 03/12/2020 13:12

Apparently from 8 Dec in Scotland

Greenglassteacup · 03/12/2020 13:14

Estimated date of roll out. Nobody has been given a date for their vaccination

NeonIcedcoffee · 03/12/2020 13:17

It's been like a day. Jesus christ op give them a second! Are you trying to make a wider point on this or are you just massively inpatient and lacking in understanding?

Ringading7 · 03/12/2020 13:53

On another thread someone is saying their relative has been invited to attend to get their vaccine.

The government are still saying roll out will be from Monday.

Staff have been recruited to administer the vaccine and have been told they will begin at 7am on Monday.

Are you always this rude to strangers @NeonIcedcoffee or is it only when you can hide behind your screen? Smile

It’s the only going to 60 hospitals to start on Tuesday. Staff will be invited to help it via their Occupational Health teams.

It’s not surprising that NHS not working in those sites haven’t been invited yet.

Mindymomo · 03/12/2020 14:16

Text from GP surgery that they are going to wait till the Oxford vaccine becomes available and will hopefully commence in January. Friends in NHS are on standby.

shesellsseashells99 · 03/12/2020 14:18

Care home worker here and no invite yet.

Frazzled2207 · 03/12/2020 14:21

Also intrigued to know. I'm sure there's lots of work going on behind the scenes but the public information is quite vague. Our local hospital is one of the 53 getting a supply yet my nurse friend knows nothing.

But on other threads there are MN HCPs who are adamant they have an appointment slot next week. I wish they would just admit that care homes just isn't going to happen at least immediately. Let's just distribute the the first batches as quickly and as safely as we possibly can. It's expensive, so distributing in hospitals surely minimises the risk of it getting wasted.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 03/12/2020 14:22

My mum works with Covid patients in a major hospital in tier 3, she's heard nothing about vaccine dates yet.

weepingwillow22 · 03/12/2020 14:25

I had this message from my gp today:

Although the government has asked the NHS to plan to deliver this vaccination programme we are not expecting any vaccine until 2021 and a prioritisation list has been produced to deliver to the groups who will need it first.
Once the vaccine becomes available you will be contacted either by x Medical Practice or NHS England with details on when and how you can receive the vaccine.

Metallicalover · 03/12/2020 14:26

We were told to make sure we had our flu vaccine by December 1st in preparation for receiving the vaccine in the next few weeks. No date yet x

MrsMigginsMate · 03/12/2020 14:28

With regards to care homes there is currently an issue with the packaging size. The MHRA won't allow the Pfizer vials to be split down into packs of less than something like 800 ish, which is way too much to send to a care home and will be wasteful. Its because of the cold chain I think, but they are reviewing this now and they expect the MHRA to give permission to break them down further. Care homes can store them in a normal fridge for up to 5 days so it's looking possible that they will actually be getting the Pfizer dose in, just not straight away as it all hinges on them being allowed to split the packs.

MrsMigginsMate · 03/12/2020 14:30

Over 80s are supposed to be offered if it if they happen to have a hospital appointment at one of the hospitals that stocks the jab.....coverage of their age group will be patchy for a while I think.

PrivateD00r · 03/12/2020 14:31

We have been told mass vaccination sites will be operational from 14th, staff training is happening next week. Some of us have been contacted and asked to work on the sites. We haven't been personally invited for a vaccine, that isn't how it works. Booking will open sometime next week and we will be asked to book an appointment ourselves. Be patient op, its coming!

canigooutyet · 03/12/2020 14:32

I don't know any either invited including those within NHS.

I had a gp telephone already booked for today, I asked, at the earliest January, and still waiting for info because of exclusions.

helloxhristmas · 03/12/2020 14:32

Jesus they can't organise fly roll out properly with a years notice, it might be coming through the tunnel but it won't be starting that quickly

RichardMarxisinnocent · 03/12/2020 14:34

My Trust have said they plan to vaccinate frontline staff with higher covid-ages first, so the more vulnerable people.

MissEliza · 03/12/2020 14:34

@DisgruntledPelican

Apparently from 8 Dec in Scotland
I'm sure Nicola is desperate to get there first.

Yes, this is similar to what friends are telling me and wonder if this is what others have been invited to, not to get the vaccine but the training.
WinterWhore · 03/12/2020 14:53

Bloody hell give them chance!!! Always one! Theres millions and millions of people waiting for this vaccine, the NHS are stressed enough so excuse them for not getting invites out to everyone in less then 24 hours!!!!!!

No contra has been issued yet asaik and without this, how can anyone be invited for the vaccine?

LH1987 · 03/12/2020 15:00

The OP only generally asked a question , she didn’t demand a vaccine. Why are people so mean sometimes behind screens!
