EMA = European Medicines Agency

@Chumleymouse

Nobody seems to know how long the vaccine will last ? Trials have said it was still present after 56 days !!!!!!! So not long at all. I can’t see how the country will be able to afford to keep vaccinating everybody if it only lasts for say 3 months ???????
It'll be a damn sight cheaper to vaccinate every three months than have continual restrictions, lockdowns, businesses and entire industries collapsing, NHS treatments denied, millions unemployed, etc etc.
SirChing · 02/12/2020 12:07

I am baffled that so many NHS staff would rather risk the long-term side effects of Long Covid, than some non-identified, theoretical, long-term side effect of a vaccine. Mind blowing!

psychomath · 02/12/2020 12:08

Some [members of the MHRA] even have shares in AstraZeneca.

I see the person who posted this has left the thread, so can anyone else explain how that would give them a greater incentive to licence a vaccine from a competing biotech company?

lovelemoncurd · 02/12/2020 12:10

I love it that we have pissed the Germans off that we have been more efficient.

MarshaBradyo · 02/12/2020 12:12

Listening to parliament re threat of disinformation on vaccines and the danger they pose.

MarshaBradyo · 02/12/2020 12:13

Danger - from those spreading the disinformation

Yep, I wondered that too!

Good spot. Grasping at anything.

Sorry, did the trial say that the vaccine then bogged off on the 57th day? Or that it was still detectable on the 56th and therefore we know lasts a minimum of approximately 3 months?
SirChing · 02/12/2020 12:19

Sorry, two months, not three!

lovelemoncurd · 02/12/2020 12:22

@SirChing they probably smoke, eat crap and have unprotected sex too. Somehow they disassociate their own behaviour with the advice they give ( or don't give) to patients!

ajandjjmum · 02/12/2020 12:23

So many people 'have heard' or 'know someone'........and clearly the govt. are in cahoots with the scientists to kill off the nation.

Well, I am an ex MH nurse. I occasionally smoke, eat far too much crap, though refrain from the unprotected sex thing. Despite my failings and similar of my colleagues, we would all be flummoxed at someone refusing the vaccine because of unknown side effects, when the potential long term side effects of covid are becoming increasingly known. To be frank, we would have thought they were thick.

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 02/12/2020 12:35

@iVampire

And all us extremely clinically vulnerable people will be swanning around like fucking superheroes. I'll do your shopping for you if you like? I haven't been in a shop for almost a year - seriously, I'll do anyone's shopping for them

Hell yes. Me too!

We could set up a 'Help the Working Population' charity, purely run by the CEV.

And if they want specific brands in their shopping, we can roll our eyes a bit, and mutter about ingratitude under our breath.

Aragog · 02/12/2020 12:41

@stinkingrottenegg

here is the list

The JCVI's priority list is as follows:

1 - Residents in a care home for older adults and their carers
2 - All those 80 years of age and over. Frontline health and social care workers
3 - All those 75 years of age and over
4 - All those 70 years of age and over. Clinically extremely vulnerable individuals
5 - All those 65 years of age and over
6 - All individuals aged 16 years to 64 years with underlying health conditions which put them at higher risk of serious disease and mortality
7 - All those 60 years of age and over
8 - All those 55 years of age and over
9 - All those 50 years of age and over

Looks like I will be group 6, so long as the CV list is the same as the one previously done.

My MIL will be group 4 and and my parents group 5.
Dh is under 50 and no CV so not on the list.

Bearing in mind the number of our 40+ women teachers have been the worst hit at my school for having longer lasting symptoms meaning they've been off longer than the required 10 days it's a shame there isn't as much clarity on those below group 9.

Yes I agree, though can we leave out the NHS staff bit? It isn't just that group that this applies to.
mylittleyumyum · 02/12/2020 12:52

I think it will become mandatory for NHS workers to have it.

I also wonder if those under 50 will have to pay if they want (or need for travel certificate etc) the vaccine. Sorry if this has already been discussed.

Of course it won't become mandatory for anyone to have it - this isn't North Korea!

I don't know if it will be officially mandatory. But anyone applying for a job working with vulnerable people may not pass the probationary period if they refuse to be vaccinated.

I understood that it would not be available on a private basis.

Regarding NHS workers - not all those I know plan of having it. In my mind, they fall in to the same category as the women DH saw at the gym this morning - not sanitizing equipment before or after use, nor showering (no water), before they did a quick 10 minute change and went off to work - in their nurses uniforms!

ThornAmongstRoses · 02/12/2020 13:04

I think it will become mandatory for NHS workers to have it.

What are the NHS going to do? Sack all the nurses, doctors, physio’s, dieticians, SALT’s, Specialist nurses and cleaners (and god knows how many other branches of hospital staff) if any of them don’t want it?

It's all here say, no one really knows the real truth. All the NHS staff I know, I am a retired NHS nurse, are desperate for the vaccine.
Parker231 · 02/12/2020 13:13

The government have said they won’t be making it mandatory although other countries can restrict enter without a vaccination certificate.
