So confused - do we need to self isolate?

Ds saw his girlfriend tonight (outdoors but kissed her).
He’s just been told that her dad (Who ds has had no contact with) is having to be tested tomorrow, and that she (The gf) thinks her sense of smell has changed.

Who in my household needs to isolate?
Should ds stay in his room and precautions taken until we know what’s going on?

He needs to isolate as is close contact to her who now has symtoms. Rest of you can carry on as normal unless he gets symptoms in which case you isolate and he gets a test. As we are still in lockdown he shouldnt have been anywhere near her.

In theory, no he doesn’t unless she tests positive and then he will have to self isolate as a close contact.

He should ideally until she gets a negative result
She must obviously
Oh dear

She should have been isolating as she and her Dad are showing symptoms, not snogging her boyfriend!Shock

She's put your Ds in a really difficult position. Assuming they don't live together, he's not part of her household so doesn't need to isolate. Close contacts don't usually isolate until the test comes back positive but morally, he knows he's kissed her and she's symptomatic, so ideally he'd isolate until she gets the all clear.

In the eyes of the NHS you’d wait until her test results arrive.

However if she is positive and if they properly kissed & mixed saliva then he probably will have caught it too. Him self isolating will protect the rest of your household if anything. He might have it but you could try to avoid the rest of you catching it.

They met after school.
It sounds like the dad maybe doesn’t have Covid symptoms after all, but ds is going to isolate until we know more.
