Did anyone have sore back as a symptom?

We as a family have COVID, none of the typical symptoms, mostly sore head and lower back. I'm day 9 now and my back is still agony, I permanently have a hot water bottle in place and I'm taking co-codamol every 8 hours. I'm starting to really worry that this is going to be a long term thing, and I'm hoping to hear positive stories of it completely recovering.

Yep, lower back mainly left side

My son had a very painful back as a symptom of Covid but he's made a good recovery.

GizmosBandana · 01/12/2020 20:08

Yes, horrific aching pains in my lower back, hips and legs to the point even lying down in bed was agony. Lost my sense of smell and taste a few days later and got a positive test result.

FredtheFerret · 01/12/2020 20:15

Yes. Both DH and I. His was lower back and kidney area - mine was sort of bra strap area and up spine/into shoulders.

Also had every joint aching. I am now recovered from that (6 weeks down line) but still absolutely shattered.

I may have done (but pre-testing, so I’ll never know for sure...) Was a very nervy pain. Couldn’t hold myself upright.

But if it was covid, it cleared completely.

Hope you feel better soon.

I always get sore kidneys when I have a fever. I think I had Covid back in March so no test, however my early symptoms were the sore kidneys and a dry throat

kowari · 01/12/2020 20:26

Lower back. It wasn't so bad in the day but I had to take a paracetamol to sleep three nights running. I rarely take anything normally.

kowari · 01/12/2020 20:27

March, so no test, but I had no sense of taste and smell for two weeks and I was later positive for antibodies.

Didthatreallyhappen · 01/12/2020 20:29

Yes! Kidney area and upper stomach or kidney area. Had to take pain killers to sleep. Eased off after 2 days and it was an otherwise mild case. I still don't have a sense of smell though!

Didthatreallyhappen · 01/12/2020 20:30

I meant to say upper back.

Didthatreallyhappen · 01/12/2020 20:31

I actually thought I'd pulled a muscle from carrying something heavy

PrivateD00r · 01/12/2020 20:37

Yes I had terrible back pain, I had to take painkillers for it. I wasn't sure if it was a covid symptom or caused by me being in bed for 2 weeks. Awful leg pains too, never had anything like it before!

Thanks for the replies, it all sounds promising that it will eventually ease off. Sorry for everyone else who went through this Flowers

For 24 hours worst lower back pain ever, worse than labour pains.

SufferingFromLongLockdown · 03/12/2020 08:38

Yes, I could be a good idea to get some test sticks to check for urine infection.

AnaisNun · 03/12/2020 08:42

Yes- upper back and back of rib cage. That was before the coughing started but after the eyes/throat hurt... no fever at any point.
