Who needs to self isolate

Person a has tested positive for covid.
Person b lives in the same house and saw person a yesterday they will definitely have to isolate I know this.
Person C is working away and has been since Saturday. Last saw person A end of last week.

Does person C need to return home and self isolate or stay away at work?

Did person C see person A in the 48 hours before symptoms started? If not, they would be best to stay away. If they did then they should isolate. Dont think it matters where they isolate if required

daisybrown37 · 30/11/2020 21:33

When did Person A get symptoms/tested?

daisybrown37 · 30/11/2020 21:34

Or what dementedpixie said....

Did C see A 48 hours before symptoms started?

If so, yes, all 3

rollonnovember · 30/11/2020 21:51

Person A didn't have any symptoms was tested at work.

Person C can't remember when they were last in the house with person A as they spend a lot of time at work doing odd hours so cross paths rarely.

So you look at 48 hours before the test then. Are they not sure if they were in contact at that point?

StatisticalSense · 30/11/2020 21:54

When were they last in the house, regardless of whether person A was present at the time. If it was within 48 hours they need to isolate.

rollonnovember · 30/11/2020 21:56

Person A had the test Sunday and got the results today.

Person C thinks it was either Wednesday or Thursday they saw person A, was a brief hello from the kitchen doorway as they went upstairs.

Was person C living in the house at the same time as person A they just didn't happen to see them or did person C literally just come in, pass person A then left again?

If they were living in the house then they will have touched the same surfaces so I would say they should isolate.

If not then I would apply the "within 2m for more than 15 minutes" (this is what track and trace use to identify "close contacts") if they were then isolate and if they weren't then they don't?

If they didn't see A in the 48 hours before the test then they are fine - and should stay away unless they are happy to come home and do the 14 days isolation (as at the day they come home).
