Fit note (sick note thingy)

Google and 111 website are not helping.

Work say they think they need a fit note from me. I’ve never been off more than a couple of days so this is a new process to me. The internet says for covid you don’t need a Fit note, just an isolation note. I’ve got one of these. But this just covers the first ten days, the actual isolation period. I’m still off work, ill. Anyone know what I’m meant to do now?
Work are trying to find out too, so I could just leave them to it if I have to.

Oh should have said ‘Coronavirus’ in the title.

Contact your GP for a fit note. Hope you feel better soon.

You now need to phone your GP and explain why you don't think you are fit to return to work and ask them to write you a sickness note.

Oh ok. I’d feel a bit bad taking up their time, but I guess it’s necessary.

Thanks!

Yes it's necessary because your health matters and you need time to recover. There's no need to feel bad because this is an important part of a GP's job - prescribing rest when it's needed.

I’ve just done this. I was advised to self cert for first 7 days and then use the isolation note. Good luck. Hope you feel better soon. I’m into week 4 and feeling much better but still not 100%
