Social Dancing at school PE

Our high school is about to start a block of Social Dancing for PE. They do it every year, and then there is a school dance. The head teacher emailed parents and explained there had been a risk assessment done, and the children would be dancing within "class bubbles".

My concern is that it doesn't feel Covid-Safe to me. They don't specify how large the bubbles are. But specifically, it seems crazy to encourage teens to hold hands and get up close to each other, indoors, doing energetic dancing. What do you think?

Although they've been going to school, and wearing masks in corridors and buses when required, the DC have been socially distancing with their friends, and not hugged family since February, so it seems wrong to get them so close with other children they don't normally even hang out with at school.

They are doing PE anyway and sitting next to each other in class with no SD so is there any extra risk? I’d not be happy with physical contact.

Ugh I hated having to do this at school! Can't believe they're still forcing them into it, covid or not. I wouldn't be happy holding hands with anyone given the pandemic so I don't think children should be forced to. Does your child actually want to do it?
