Anyone have cold symptoms?

I've had chills and tiredness and a definite snotty, sneeze cold. But just a very intermittent dry cough. as in one cough every couple of hours. Should I get a test or is that an over reaction.

I should say my dAughter is isolating after being in close contact.

The cough is quite difficult to judge, but I think if you have a new cough and know you are only one step removed from a positive case, then you could get a test. If I had your symptoms I would probably isolate anyway to avoid passing it on.

We all have colds AND coughs. Better to test than not is my view

BefuddledPerson · 30/11/2020 07:30

This is also the classic way schools are driving the virus - child A is symptomatic, children b/c/d get no symptoms and the government deliberately doesn't test them - but parents b/c/d contract it and spread it around the wider community. Schools are driving transmission, but no one wants to confront that.

That was exactly what my DS18 had at uni and tested positive

I had a cold recently and coughed a handle of times but not a 'covid cough'. It's cleared up now. DS also had a cold. We got it from my nephew who I look after. He had a test for covid and came back negative. But in your case I'd probably test if your DC is isolating.

I have just tested positive with same symptoms. I would especially as your daughter is a close contact.

covetingthepreciousthings · 30/11/2020 08:30

I would test in this situation.

starrynight19 · 30/11/2020 08:32

Befuddledperson yes agree about the schools thing that’s where I got mine from.

EdmundElephantIsACleverClogs · 30/11/2020 08:36

I would test. Me & dp both have covid and neither of us have a cough just really bad cold symptoms and no taste/smell.

Orangeblossom7777 · 30/11/2020 08:44

I have just the same, had a test Friday to make sure and it was negative. feeling grotty. But glad it is just a cold!

There are other bugs going around too I think.

Sore throat, blocked ears, bit snotty. No one else in house with cold symptoms and WFH so not sure where got cold symptoms from.
No temp, loss of smell or cough so currently not been for test.
