Hello, I've become a little lost with all the rules etc and as we live in Wales have different rules to the UK so thought I would ask here. My sister is in tier 2 and we are in wales now I assumed at Christmas the tiers stayed so we may not be able to meet up but my sister has said no over the christmas it does not matter what tier you live in anyone can see anyone as long as you only have the certain number of groups?

All tiers are suspended over the 5 days of Christmas, the 4 nations agreed this so people could easily meet across the UK in the Christmas bubbles

Tiers are suspended over Christmas. We're in Tier 3 however, and my brother and my Mum are in Tier 2, so we've agreed that she will go to them and we will see her between Christmas and New Year. She's 83 and we're her support bubble so that works for us.

Tiers are not suspended over Christmas. This statement in the government guidance makes that quite clear:

"Between 23 and 27 December, you may travel between tiers and other nations of the UK if necessary to meet with other households in your Christmas bubble or return home. Once at your destination, you should follow the rules in that tier."

However, as is clear above, you may travel between tiers to meet people in your Christmas bubble.

There's nothing in the guidance to say you can travel between tiers to meet people who are not in your bubble, so meeting friends outside over Christmas would still be subjected to the rules within your tier and theirs.

So does that mean that at Christmas I can only see family in their houses if I'm in their bubble? (tier 2 and 3) I thought the tiers were out of the window at Christmas to?! If so, that will explain why I was so confused!

Yes tiers replaced with bubbles for Christmas.
Not sure if anyone has let the virus know though so it may be visiting and spreading around lots of people as it hasn't heard it is supposed to be on holiday 🙄.

I'm not in any bubble as my family don't live near me. Sad And I'm still out working, so that's me not travelling for Christmas!
