January exams

As a parent of a year 12 child who is taking exams in January I am starting to worry about disruption to exams as her year group have to isolate.
I just feel that the Government haven't thought this though at all with exams.
I am also wondering what will happen in this case. Will they just have to resit I wonder.

@Northernsoulgirl45 We have over 100 year 12 and 13 students in the same position. We have no official guidance but so far if they are isolating they legally cannot leave their home, so they can't sit the exam even in an isolated room. No provisions have been suggested by the government. We also have I my only have a handful of year 12 in; all of year 13 and most of year 12 are in either their second or third isolation.

Hi we have the same my son is doing mocks, they had already planned that if they all have to isolate it will the week they get back, or if a child has to they will do it when back

Gives them some quiet time to revise I guess...

Fucking hell - you're right.

I have a DD in year 11 - and hadn't thought That one through. She has first lot of exams in January, then mocks in March

Dd is missing some of her mocks this week due to isolation .
There have been children missing all through the mock period and they are doing the exams when they return.
Other schools are setting them to do at home (from her friends).

I guess we will just have to cross fingers and if not hope there is a resit soon.

Resits Willbe the June exams sadly, and for some of our Y13s it will be the first time they sit the exam, and the only time. Takes away some of the benefits of BTEC.

We are having a parent information Teams evening soon so that we can keep parents informed. Now we just need to be told what is actually going to happen.

So if one of your other kids feels a bit hot or has a cold with a cough, you basically have to throw your year 11/12/13 child under the bus. Marvellous ain’t it.

Northernsoulgirl45 · 02/12/2020 16:03

Or if someone else in year 12 or 13 has symptoms in her case.
