Straw that broke the camels back...

The latest announcement of tiers out of lockdown has really got to me, more than anything so far. Need to vent/share to try and keep myself sane.

My job is not direct hospitality, but directly connected, so when pubs are closed, i have no work. Through the first lockdown and through this one, ive been furloughed, with maybe 30/40% of my work in the bit in the middle of the two. This has been ok due to furlough which added the extra security.

My job is the kind that once pubs are open again, it should slowly build back up, so its not like the job is not viable, just no demand at the current moment.

Up till now ive been making an effort to try not to stress about it all, what will be will be, but i had been so certain that my region would have been going into tier 2. So the tier 3 announcement has knocked me for 6 and really got me struggling with the situation.

Tier 3 means no pubs open, no demand for my work, so no work. Simple as that.

The longer this goes on, the more pressure my company is under. They've done their best, reduncancies have not been mentioned yet, but imo at this stage they are inevitable.

Its my own fault for being so certain about the tier 2 rather than 3. I just want to go to work...

Sorry for rambling, i cant share with my mum who im close to, as she just suggests i look for another job (not really an option, would rather take the chance with current conpany where i have 6 years service and a good reputation) or my dp, who works for the same company, so sharing my fears for me with him highlights that we are both in the same rubbish situation. Feels good to have even just typed it out, helps to put the specific worries 'away' somewhere instead of floating about in my head...

I'm sorry OP that sounds really awful and you must be so worried. Do you think your area is close to moving down to tier 2?

Its the north east, so althouugh cases are dropping, i think hospital cases are still high, so who knows.

Its the fact that it wont even get looked at until the 16th is so difficult. So its 2 weeks of nothing before we even find out whats going on.

Came as s blow here too and that is without it effecting my work, just the kids swimming. (Ds needs the exercise. Dd needs it to keep her core strength up. Both have conditions it helps, useful but not critical)But that is not a big deal compared to no work. No wonder you are finding it difficult. I hope cases go down soon.

Our cases were dropping too and we were tier two before.
