Can you eat at a restaurant in another tier?

I can’t find an answer to this online. If for example, you live in a tier 3 area, could you eat out in a tier 2 area.
I know travel from tier to tier unless travelling through, is strongly discouraged, but from what I’ve read, not banned entirely. So, is eating out in another tier discouraged or banned?

OP posts:

Tier 3 can go anywhere including go on holiday abroad

OverTheRainbow88 · 27/11/2020 18:35

@100percentpeachynessa

I actually said I wouldn’t go out to eat, really not jealous: I feel safer going to work knowing others there aren’t eating out etc.

I didn’t before either as noticed the numbers where I am creeping up before this lockdown, even though we were tier 1.

100percentpeachynessa · 27/11/2020 18:37

@LondonlovesLola

You’re rightsmile cancel the new tier system everyone, ‘OverTheRainbow88’ is jealous that they can’t go out for a Nando’s

It’s more than that isn’t it though.
People can’t visit elderly parents living at the other end of the country. They can’t stay over in their homes, can’t book a hotel.
Others can.
There is lot more to this than a missed trip to Nando’s.

Is this post not about going to restaurants in tier 2? And yes it must seem unfair that other people are basically in lockdown and others aren’t but it’s a pandemic and they don’t really care about people’s feelings

I thought tier 3 had to follow guidelines for tier 3 wherever they go? Don’t go into other people’s houses, no overnight stays, hotels closed...

AuntieMarys · 27/11/2020 18:37

Isn't it depressing. THE RULES.

isitsnowingyet · 27/11/2020 18:38

@bathsh3ba - same scenario here - travel from Tier 3 to work in Tier 2. DDs school in Tier 2 also.

Everyone is mixing with all at school and work anyway

I can’t find anything about that in the Government website.

Yes it is but as I said, the frustration runs far deeper . Hence some people saying ‘fk it, I’ll do whatI like’.

You basically take the rules of your tier with you. Which is why people in tier 3 can’t eat out in tier 2 even though restaurants are open.
Not saying it’s the right way to go about things but our esteemed Gov seems to think it will work...(it won’t).

I’m in tier 2 and I get why people feel like that but at the same time it’s not their risk to take, if it was safe to do it there wouldn’t be the tier system in the first place. I work in a pub in tier 2 I’m a zero hours contract if I get ill I don’t get paid I’ve already gone without pay for this whole lockdown too
Ginogineli · 27/11/2020 18:48

Yes crazy as it is they can’t stay at someone else’s house but they can go on foreign holiday!

They can still travel into areas in and out of tier 3 areas tho for shopping and access to parks and outdoor entertainment - places that are open like theme parks etc

It’s not a lockdown

DryRoastPeanut · 27/11/2020 18:50

You’re not supposed to travel from tier 3 to tier 2.

Ginogineli · 27/11/2020 18:51

Nowhere does it say that

It says youre not advised not to

Nowhere does it say you can’t

It also says you go to any open places

It’s just that some people literally make things up as they go along

Yeah you’re right you can go to tier 2 you just have to do whatever you would be allowed to do in your home tier so you can go to open spaces to meet people and whatnot but this is why people are saying you aren’t allowed to go to restaurants
southeastdweller · 27/11/2020 18:52

You basically take the rules of your tier with you. Which is why people in tier 3 can’t eat out in tier 2 even though restaurants are open.

So basically that’s your interpretation and therefore not a rule or even advice. So you’re talking crap.

That is literally what they’ve said on the news though, if you choose to enter a lower tier you take the rules of your own tier with you.
LondonlovesLola · 27/11/2020 18:57

100percent

I’m in tier 3. I could transfer the virus to many of the 100s of tier 2 children I teach in my classroom 20 hrs a week.
That’s ok it seems.
BUT if I were to sit in the Costa near school & drink coffee for 15 mins at lunchtime I am apparently a danger to the entire tier 2 community.

southeastdweller · 27/11/2020 18:58

But that’s not on the government website so therefore neither official advice or a rule.

LondonlovesLola · 27/11/2020 18:59

Eh? What news are you watching?

mumsyandtiredzz · 27/11/2020 18:59

Our town is tier 3 whilst nearby city (10 miles away) is tier 2 despite having a way higher rate of corona there.

FlyingWithoutWingss · 27/11/2020 19:03

@100percentpeachynessa

Stop crying like a baby because you want to go out for a meal when you’re not allowed to. If you want to break the rules then do so clearly see going out for a meal as more important

It's not breaking the rules though Hmm

LondonlovesLola · 27/11/2020 19:04

This? See pic.
Probably explains why people in tier 2 will go to tier 3 bars/restaurants.

Can you eat at a restaurant in another tier?
Ginogineli · 27/11/2020 19:07

No one will follow it tho myself inc

I’ve worked all way through in Liverpool and currentl full time so if I want to go for a meal there with my own family I will

I’ve also already booked 3 tables for nights out with friends - outside tables

No one this close to Xmas will follow that rap people like me who have been under those restrictions for ages

OverTheRainbow88 · 27/11/2020 19:09

@LondonlovesLola

Don’t be ridiculous. Covid doesn’t spread in schools, they are magical places. Costa however; you could infect them all!

SirFlouncealot · 27/11/2020 19:12

I’m in Liverpool we’ve been under restrictions longer than a lot of people so it’s good to know after doing so well people are supporting us to stay there.

If I was a teacher I wouldn’t be openly admitted to being a pleb.
