Tier 1 at Christmas

Does anyone know, if you're tier 1, what at the rules at Christmas? 3 households, rule of 6 or both?

3 households. Its the same for everyone for those few days. Tiers don't matter

flapjackfairy · 26/11/2020 12:58

Yes tiers suspended for 5 days

KatnissNeverseen · 26/11/2020 13:00

I don't know why they don't put the whole country in lockdown until Christmas because keeping large cities like Liverpool and London in tier 2 will make it a lot worse imho.

the80sweregreat · 26/11/2020 13:04

When the tiers are lifted for those five days I just hope we're not then back to square one. I'm tier 2 , so it's not too bad.
Sorry for those in tier three. :(

The gov.uk website says 'Between 23 to 27 December you must not meet friends or family in your home unless they are part of your Christmas bubble. You can continue to meet people who are not in your Christmas bubble outside your home according to the rules in the tier you are staying in'. This suggests you can meet people that are not in your Christmas bubble outside. So confusing.

I see what you mean. I'm not sure on our plans yet but I think rule of 6 will be better for us, and it seems odd that it would switch to bubbles over Christmas then back to rule of 6. I can see the need to keep the guidance straightforward however!

Also you don't have to social distance in christmas bubbles but do in the rule of 6, so that makes quite a difference.

IrkedEssex · 26/11/2020 13:41

Your Christmas bubble can socialise in each others houses. Nobody else may go into houses or private gardens. Rule of 6 applies elsewhere so you could meet friends in a restaurant or pub in T1.

AnguaResurgam · 26/11/2020 13:46

You can meet your Christmas concession people indoors during the specified days.

You can meet other people according to your tier rules - so rule of 6, outdoors (unless tier 1), and only in public places (tier 3)

I'm not sure if it's all pubs, but I received an email today saying you can't book a table with other people from other households. Might just be that one pub restaurant though.

@the80sweregreat (love the user name; yes they were) You said above that you are in Tier 2 so you can't go to a pub or restaurant with other households. My reply was in respect of T1
