Given up reading the rules

I can't take anything more in.

None of it makes any sense to me any more. I can't see what the difference was in the rules from before lockdown, during to now.

So - I've officially given up. I'll carry on as normal.

Well that will really help things.

OneForMeToo · 26/11/2020 12:29

I hear you. This lockdown made no difference everyone’s ended up a higher tier and well if that’s what following the rules gets you then I give up.

I followed the strict lockdown rules my children where home for months we did as we where told.

It’s the schools that’s kept us like this though, there is no social distancing at pick up or drop off the children aren’t really in proper bubbles they all mingle at pick up and drop off which for us is now spread out for over half an hour but most of us have more than one so the staggering hasn’t changed how many people are stood waiting around we just stand next to each other for longer.

Dustballs · 26/11/2020 12:30

Why have the changed it from confusing, all over the place tiers - to general (easier to understand) lockdown - back to tiers, with the same names again. Except this time the tiers have different rules to before and don't really change much from the lockdown that was uniform just before.

Why have they done this?

My ds asked if he mate could sleep over. I asked him which bit of covid rules did he not grasp.
He said the gvt bit...
3 x dc on secondary school.. Bubbles of 300 each. Teachers swapping year groups. Bubble of 900 then?
Primary dc has PE from a coach provided by the council. Holding hands activity 2 weeks ago... Wtf??
Head battered...
We will be tier 3 next week I understand...
*Not understand..

Santaisironingwrappingpaper · 26/11/2020 12:37

Preview I had typed couch not coach.. More appropriate - I need a bloody lie down!!

Notcontent · 26/11/2020 12:39

I think lots of people are fed up with all the “rules” constantly changing and all the inconsistencies/rules that don’t make sense.

I am complying, which means I am stuck at home (wfh) and dd is going to school, but otherwise also just at home, but feeling really resentful.

Dustballs · 26/11/2020 12:41

This is just Lockdown continued, disguised as Tiers, isn't it?

It's to save Boris from looking like the liar that we know he is. He did say we were coming out of Lockdown on December 2nd after all.

Wouldn't it have been simpler to just continue Lockdown?

This, in spades. So fucking fed up of it all.
Stellaris22 · 26/11/2020 12:47

Being honest, I never followed the rules as I couldn't babe bothered keeping up.

But since February/March we:

  • haven't been in another house (or garden)
  • still wash hands regularly
  • use hand sanitiser regularly (especially after touching traffic light buttons)
  • social distance and wear a mask
  • husband does food shopping alone and packs away in the boot

And haven't seen any family since last year.

AFAIK that means we haven't broken any rules, but the rules very rarely make sense.

Only trip we made was to Colchester Zoo when they opened again and followed all the rules there.

Stellaris22 · 26/11/2020 12:47

*be not babe!

MrsMigginsMate · 26/11/2020 12:51

You're right OP, this is Boris trying to wriggle out of being accused of continuing lockdown...."it's not lockdown, we've rebranded it to Tiers now!" Very little difference that I can see.

yawnsvillex · 26/11/2020 12:52

Lockdown worked then?

Me to @Dustballs I will be carrying on as normal

Dustballs · 26/11/2020 12:55

I do the same as you @Stellaris22

I don't want any of us to catch Covid. So I'll just carrying on doing that.

But I'm not wasting time reading these stupid rule changes anymore. My head needs space for more important things.

FromTheAshes · 26/11/2020 13:21

Well, my bf is going to ignore the 'don't mix with other households indoors' rule, as he has all through lockdown, so it really doesn't matter what I do anymore. Feeling very fed up with it all, as I've only seen my dad (in a care home) once since February, and I haven't seen my mum (in deepest darkest Wales) since she visited last Christmas.

It feels like everyone is going to do what they want now, making it all the harder for those of us who follow the rules to the letter. I just wish they'd bloody sort testing out so we could stop having stupid restrictions that nobody follows.

Stellaris22 · 26/11/2020 14:21

The worst is when you know people who easily criticise others but are awful themselves.

Friend wants to bring back 'essential shopping' and regularly has a go at people who shop in groups or only buy chocolate.

But has her bf round all the time and even during proper lockdown was drinking in other people's houses.

Given up on caring about others breaking rules, it's the hypocrisy that bothers me.

I ignore others and focus on keeping myself safe e.g. If I'm walking the dog and see a group of people I cross the road or stop in a drive way till distancing makes it safe. I don't care if people think I'm being OTT, I just want to be safe.

Cripesitsthegasman19 · 26/11/2020 14:29

I agree, fucking pointless trying to keep up anymore

frozendaisy · 26/11/2020 14:59

I am finding being a hermit much easier in the colder months. And have lost interest in establishing Christmas joy since we have no panto to shout boo at!

So just going to have a small chilled Christmas, bubbled with a single household. Mostly essential shopping only.

Can hopefully go for a swim again.

That's all we need until we get that lovely life changing vaccine stuck in our arms.

movingonup20 · 26/11/2020 15:16

What's annoying is we are in 3 but London has a higher rate and is in tier 2, go figure

LadyCatStark · 26/11/2020 15:19

We live in Wyre and we’ve been put into tier 3 so nope... I’m done.

Given up reading the rules
RoseGoldEagle · 26/11/2020 16:42

I preferred lockdown- I could meet one friend with our children outside as the kids didn’t count in the numbers. Now even in tier one I can’t meet her outside as there’s 7 of us ( 2 adults and 5 preschoolers) and it’s back to rule of 6 outside, where children count in that number again. How can tier one be stricter than lockdown in that respect, how can preschoolers not matter in the numbers, and then matter again. Makes no sense to me.

RaspberryCoulis · 26/11/2020 16:46

I hear you and think you are right. It is confusing, the constant chopping and changing and tiers, scotland, wales, northern ireland and england all doing their own thing.

Just start making your own, sensible decisions. Obviously you can't be going to shops or restaurants which are closed, and don't be having wild parties for the whole street. But seeing a friend for a coffee or meeting 10 people outside rather than the permitted 8? Crack on.

Please don't OP. You need to follow the. Rules to. Ring down the rates of COVID or our NHS will suffer even more and the death rates will continue to climb.

Yup.

Wankbadgers, the lot of them. No one in communications who understands how to write with clarity and simplicity.

Please do not carry on as normal. Think of others more vulnerable than yourself.

Yes Lockdown has worked, as have the higher restrictions on towns such as Liverpool. Lockdown is to reduce the transmission rates which it has done.
Lockdown is not to eliminate the virus.
The vaccine will be rolled out soon and once a sufficient number of people are immune life will return to normal.

junglepie · 26/11/2020 16:55

they have done exactly as I expected. They had to say lockdown would expire after 4 weeks, because otherwise the backne=benchers would have kicked off even more and fok would not have accepted it. So they make it legally expire on Dec 2nd. They keep telling people - its ok, lockdown will deifnitely end on Dec 2nd. And then they role out a plan for after lockdown, that is basically lockdown in all but name and imagine that we will all fall for it. what a surpise.
