2nd or 3rd

Daft question and not that important but really confused over which day things reopen/ change.

We are supposed to be in in a 4 week lockdown which started on a thursday but it seems from the media/ boris we reopen on wed the 2nd which will be a 27 day lockdown, I know it's been asked before but keep seeing mixed opinions everywhere, are we def reopening on the 2nd.

The current lockdown expires at 1 minute past midnight on the 2nd. So things that are permitted to reopen (as it depends on tiers) can open on the 2nd.

If that is the case how have they got away with changing the length of the lockdown from 28 to 27 days without anyone really noticing?

Who knows their reasoning, but it does say everything, depending on tiers will be open on the 2nd.
