Is COVID racist?

Did anyone watch this tonight on channel 4?

I found it disappointing, it had very few actual facts was one sided and felt more like people just expressing my their thoughts and opinions.

I concluded from it that BAME people are dying more frequently in the main because we are likely to be frontline workers, but aside from this I didnt get much use from it, or did I miss something?

I felt like it could have been much more informative.

Didn't see that programme...
Maybe BAME status amplifies the other risk factors, so having chronic condition is worse when you're BAME & covid hits you. Or being poor & BAME is worse than just being poor (or just being BAME, for that matter).

The way covid hits UK medical BAME staff harder than white medical staff means that the difference isn't simply occupational exposure or over-crowding or poverty that happen to correlate with BAMEness too. Something else is going on.

The documentary didn't uncover or even attempt to explore any of this on a deep level this is my point. It was disappointing

I didn’t see it. Such a shame if it wasn’t done properly. Anything about vitamin D mentioned?

hellymissy · 23/11/2020 22:45

@Delatron no exactly my point! Not a mention of vitamin D, I felt like it was trying to really make the point that racism is causing COVID deaths for BAME, but didn't explore this properly either!

Ah what a wasted opportunity. There needs to be a national enquiry in to this.
