Other than support bubbles.

Until spring.

@Delatron
I think compliance will be low now. People have had enough.

If people had followed the directions for the last 8 months and been under compliance you wouldn't be in this mess in the first place. Lots of East Asian countries have gotten this under control now. It's the "Western"/white countries (excepting Australia and NZ) that are still floundering about because the citizens don't want to think of people other than themselves.

Delatron · 23/11/2020 19:45

I’m not saying I won’t comply. And I don’t think it’s the public’s fault to be honest. Did our government act swiftly like Asian countries? Did we have the experience of the Asian countries?

There are so many other factors at play here rather than just a load of naughty ‘white/western European countries’. Your words not mine @JingsMahBucket how narrow minded you are.

Whilst I will comply I don’t blame those that don’t.

@Bromeliad Hear hear. Don’t think people elsewhere realise how low GM was in July when we were put under restrictions.

FatGirlShrinking · 23/11/2020 19:59
@ChasingRainbows19 in fact we’ve only had 3/4 weeks off lockdown since March!
I'm in Leicester, we went into local lockdown 30th June. We haven't been able to meet people indoors since before the first lockdown in March.

Friendsoftheearth · 23/11/2020 20:03

I don't think any area will be in tier one, the numbers are too high everywhere. So it is either 2 or 3.

Unless it is christmas!

Feel for the people in Leicester - must feel like an eternity.
I could cry honestly. I am totally done with this now.

I am desperate to see my friends, for medical reasons I can't walk very far and would love to see them, and I need a big hug!! I would settle for meeting them in a restaurant or anywhere now...

Leicester was 145/100,000 when we went into local lockdown. Checked my postcode this morning and we're 758/100,000 after 8 solid months of lockdown and/or additional restrictions.

People are not following the rules which means that the ones like me and my family who are following them keep being punished.

Problem being that while I could just say fuck it and do what I want, the only people we want to see are vulnerable, one has lupus and is immune compromised, the other is 92, on blood thinners, has severe oedema and a constant chest infection that flares up regularly even without COVID. As much as we miss spending time with them, nothing is worse making them ill.

@user1471588124

We cant bubble because we're not single adult households, we both live in houseshares (me with strangers, him with friends) to save money. Not all couples living apart live in single adult households, its basically been illegal for me to have sex for 9 months because my minimum wage essential worker job pays so little i cant live alone. Im feel so fucked over by the whole system.
There’s exceptions for people it established relationships

Frazzled2207 · 23/11/2020 20:31

@Bromeliad
shit isn't it. What gives me a bit of hope however is that we have a couple of very vocal tory MPs here in South Manchester. Given how quickly our rates are falling I think there is a reasonable chance of tier 2 and if not those MPs (including Graham Brady) will be very grumpy.

Notcoolmum · 23/11/2020 20:33

Or at least for Stockport and Trafford...

puttergal · 23/11/2020 20:33

Have you got a link @AnxiousAlpaca ?
My DS is in this situation and it's breaking them.

SugarMiceInTheRain · 23/11/2020 20:41

Leicester has never been allowed to mix households indoors since 1st lockdown, no break at all. So it'll be a whole year of it for us. Sad

I’m not sure it applies for the current lockdown but should when we go back into tiers? It was deffo a thing before lockdown V2

Ginogineli · 23/11/2020 21:20

Groups of 6 can meet outside in tier 2 so I can still meet friends for meals withoutside tables - lots or areas ha e opened outside seating with patio heaters, fairy lights etc so I’m pleased to read this

Ginogineli · 23/11/2020 21:20

Here

No mixing of houses unless tier 1
TiddyTid · 23/11/2020 21:24

Load of shit. I've followed the rules from day one but in tiers for outdoor events thousands can mix, indoors half of that? I'm starting to smell a rat

RichardMarxisinnocent · 23/11/2020 21:26

You're still supposed to distance from them though, so you'd need a big enough table to allow for that.
Ginogineli · 23/11/2020 21:28

THats true but restaurants don’t care about that

When the rules were 6 outside and inside they were free for all so long as 6 so that 2m won’t apply

No tables can space 2m realistically

RichardMarxisinnocent · 23/11/2020 21:53

Outside you can probably reduce to 1m distance from each other because fresh air is a mitigation. But inside it really should be 2m, unless you can mitigate, for example by not being face to face.

I appreciate that most restaurants probably don't care, but ensuring the people from different households/bubbles is actually needed as part of them being Covid-secure:

"When permitted again, reconfiguring indoor and outdoor seating and tables to maintain social distancing guidelines (2m, or 1m with risk mitigation where 2m is not viable) between customers of different households or support bubbles. For example, increasing the distance between tables. This is required by law under the ‘Covid-secure’ regulations." from www.gov.uk/guidance/working-safely-during-coronavirus-covid-19/restaurants-offering-takeaway-or-delivery

There were also some FAQs for customers which I now can't find which said you should take into account the need for distancing when choosing where to sit at a table, and that the restaurant should help you with this. So they may not care, but they are supposed to allow for distancing and help it to happen.

KitKatastrophe · 23/11/2020 22:06

More people can form support bubbles so you may be able to socialise indoors if you fit into one of these categories.

No mixing of houses unless tier 1
Billie18 · 23/11/2020 22:12

@Delatron

I think compliance will be low now. People have had enough. Especially those who have been under restrictions since July. I mean compliance with household mixing.
It's impossible for the hospitality industries in areas put into tier 2 and 3 not to comply. This isn't a short term measure. This will be devastating for lives and livelihoods. Businesses will not survive in these areas.

Also of concern for the huge number of women who use gyms is the banning of exercise classes indoors in tiers 2 and 3. Media reports about the effect of gyms closing inevitably shows hard core body builders lifting weights however I believe more women use gyms than men but for classes rather than muscle building. Opening gyms but banning classes is discrimination against women.

AllTheUserNamesAreTaken · 23/11/2020 22:13

@Bromeliad yep, I’m in your area too. It’s utter shit how restrictions were imposed on us for just 17 per 100k. 17 for fucks sake.

No doubt we will stay in tier 3 as we’ll be lumped in with rest of Gt Mcr. Today’s announcement about restaurants and cinemas etc not being able to open in tier 3 has really got to me. It’s ridiculous but think it was the straw that broke the camel’s back!

Months already and now months more of not being able to see family and friends unless outside in the fucking cold, and not even a cinema trip or going out for a coffee to cheer the weekends up.

I’m currently having a pity party and can’t stop crying

I’m so sick of this shit!!

Delatron · 23/11/2020 22:18

That’s a really good point about women going to classes more than the gym @Billie18 I run Pilates classes and have no idea if I can work if I’m in Tier 2. Even 1-2-1.

Yes I know restaurants/pubs will have to comply if they have to close then I doubt many will survived

I’m guessing the fact that infection rates are still high in many areas mean that despite ruining the economy and many people’s livelihoods with these lockdowns, household mixing is still happening and compliance is low.

MercyBooth · 24/11/2020 00:15

@Delatron You need to watch tonights (Mondays) Newsnight. Report from Liverpool explains why.

MrsFezziwig · 24/11/2020 00:31

I’m guessing the fact that infection rates are still high in many areas mean that despite ruining the economy and many people’s livelihoods with these lockdowns, household mixing is still happening and compliance is low.

Now, in what other setting than people’s actual houses does large scale mixing between members of different households happen? (and before anyone starts shouting the odds, I’m not a teacher).
