Other than support bubbles.

Until spring.

Do we think that the South East (not London), where case rates are low but rising most quickly, will be Tier 1 or Tier 2?

Heatheronthehill · 23/11/2020 18:23

We’ve been under these restrictions since July here in West Yorkshire. With just a short break. Becoming hard now.

Delatron · 23/11/2020 18:23

I thought the conclusion was that tier 1 has little/no impact so most places will be tier 2. But I guess we’ll see.

I worry for pubs and restaurants.

NotAKaren · 23/11/2020 18:24

@FiveFootTwoEyesOfBlue There are lots of different rates across the South East some low, some rising and some very high. Hard to know but I suspect combination of 2/3.

hopefulhalf · 23/11/2020 18:25

Kent might be tier 3

FreshFreesias · 23/11/2020 18:26

Is anyone taking any notice of this bollocks now?
Seriously, it is frightening how compliant people are being given how corrupt and discredited this government have become.

Delatron · 23/11/2020 18:26

Yes I see outdoor sporting events are allowed with 2,000 people in tier 2 and indoor shows with 1,000 people. But you can’t go round to your mum’s for a cup of tea....

@ChasingRainbows19

We’ve not mixed in houses since July in Greater Manchester. Not a new thing for us!
Yeah same , If we are staying in tier 3 no pubs / restaurants open no mixing households And how long for do we know ? I know this talk of a few days at Christmas off but I'm sick of it all now.
islockdownoveryet · 23/11/2020 18:30

I don't get that a hairdressers is any more safer than going out for a meal .

This

And no, my compliance ended long ago.

We’ve been under these restrictions since July here in West Yorkshire.

Not just houses - we haven't even been allowed to meet other people in private gardens. Some reckon that those restrictions (which were announced just before the Eid weekend, and with very little prior notice) were introduced in order to stop mass gatherings for Eid - although of course nobody dared say that out loud at the time. Be that as it may, the restrictions have stayed in place for months.

It feels a bit like a whole class being given a detention in order to punish one offender, even though most of them have done nothing wrong.

Think Portsmouth's at risk of tier 3 too. Surrounding towns had rising rates that are dropping now but theirs is still rising quite fast.

Could you explain how your expertise is greater than scientists and doctors across the world?

Masks and shields in hairdressers.

Same for sporting events etc.

Households there's lots of touch points and no masks and also no SD.

user1471588124 · 23/11/2020 18:38

We cant bubble because we're not single adult households, we both live in houseshares (me with strangers, him with friends) to save money. Not all couples living apart live in single adult households, its basically been illegal for me to have sex for 9 months because my minimum wage essential worker job pays so little i cant live alone. Im feel so fucked over by the whole system.

islockdownoveryet · 23/11/2020 18:42

Mask and shields in restaurants too , you walk to your table and you don't mix with other households.
Hairdressers yes shields and masks but there are still other customers so no different well not where I've been anyway.
I feel pubs aren't as safe , but restaurants should be allowed to open I think anyway .

Blobson · 23/11/2020 18:42

Does anyone know what the threshold is/what's considered when triggering a move from one tier to another? My area (before lockdown) was tier 1 but I suspect we may be pushed into tier 2.

MummaBear4321 · 23/11/2020 18:42

I will be very surprised if there are many areas in tier 1. The vast majority of places have seen a pretty steep rise in cases. My area in the South West has gone from 75 per 100k just before the start of lockdown to 214 per 100k today. We were in tier 1. I will be shocked if we arent in tier 2.

You could live together if it’s a serious relationship or find a houseshare which can accommodate you both. There are options.
Blobson · 23/11/2020 18:49

We've gone from 98 to 120, so not a massive rise, but probably enough to warrant a change of tier.

Sobeyondthehills · 23/11/2020 18:56

I think it is going to depend on how political they are going to make it.

My bet is Gove's area is going to be tier 1 and Hunts's area (next door)is 2 or 3.

Not based on any figures or science, just what I think

MotherExtraordinaire · 23/11/2020 19:05

@user1471588124

Will couples in serious relationships living apart be exempt?
Why should they be? Surely if so serious, they've had since March to be seriously living together in some form!
Bromeliad · 23/11/2020 19:05

Given that where I am in Greater Manchester we were barred from seeing anyone in our homes or gardens when our rate was a whole 17 per 100000 no area should be in Tier 1. Doubt that will happen though.

Delatron · 23/11/2020 19:05

I think compliance will be low now. People have had enough. Especially those who have been under restrictions since July. I mean compliance with household mixing.

user1471588124 · 23/11/2020 19:26

Contracts are 12 months usually (at least), most people cant usually afford ro just break a rental contract and the associated moving costs when they earn minimum wage. Plus me and my partner were long distance last year for work reason and it would have been very risky to sign a flat together for this year under those circumstances. Theres no compassion for people in less than ideal circumstances, even though im risking covid everytime i go to work (care work in the community, no real ppe and no regular testeting). I wish i could just move in with my partner but unfortunatley the real world isnt a fantasy for most peoeple.
