Next door neighbour had visitors yesterday who stayed over. Before anyone asks I wasn't nosing out my window all day but could here children running up and down the stairs etc very later last night and then again this morning.
This afternoon children all playing out in the street.
I've stopped ours playing out and they have not had a friend in for months.
They both got upset today listening to the fun from next door and outside and the eldest is in a mood with me because I'm mean.
Also the eldest is in a couple of whatsapp groups and tell me others are all having friends round.

You’re not bring mean, you’re doing the right thing. The number of people ignoring or ‘misunderstanding’ the guidance/rules is frustrating and worrying.

The only good thing about this pandemic is being able to say no to a house full of kids that don't belong to me! Older dc have been meeting up with a friend lots of bike rides happening im ok with that as the bike alone means they cant get too close

Our borough is one of the highest in the UK and has been throughout the pandemic

And it doesn't take a genius to figure out why. Yes primary school age children might not be the main drivers of the infection spread but the chances are if they are ignoring this rule they are probably also popping to see Great Aunt Maud, popping over the border (when in tier 3) to go to the pub, meeting in groups over 6 and having people at their homes. I do let my yr6 child meet a friend outside (from their class) but they walk home from school so are fairly confident out without me.
