School run with child self isolating

I've been told DS has to self isolate, I'm a single mum to 4. My oldest is able to take herself to and from school but my youngest two are too young to and DS is too young to stay at home whilst I drop them off. I can't take DS with us when he's supposed to be staying at home so this means they'll have to stay off school too doesn't it?

Can you drop them at a friends? Or can someone swing by for your 2?

Choirbells · 22/11/2020 18:50

Yes I kept the other 2 at home, whilst the other was isolating

The school may have provisions for someone to collect the children, more don't than do but worth asking.

It does seem illogical to have one child isolating, but children from the same house still going to school.

This is a common situation sadly. The answer goes like this. 1) try to get someone else to take them in . If that fails 2) call the school and ask for help. If that fails 3) drive all the children who can't be alone and drop off the children as far away from the school as you can/is safe. If that isn't possible 4) you may have to keep some of your children off school.

The school don't have anything In place for situations like this unfortunately. Would it be wrong to take DS in the car?

If he isn't leaving the car, I really don't see a problem.

We have this situation at the moment with a friend, she takes all the DC in the car, including the isolating one and waits in the car park. The child going to school jumps out of the car when I get there and comes into school with us, same in reverse at pick up. Just to note that the isolating child has no symptoms.

It's not perfect, but it's the best that we can do.

TokyoSushi · 22/11/2020 22:45

Just to clarify all of her DC are in the car, not mine, obvs!

I posted about this the other day, I’ve been told to keep my other 2 at home. I don’t drive.

Firefliess · 22/11/2020 23:07

Is your oldest old enough to be able to escort the younger ones to school?
