Do I REALLY have to self isolate?

So I got a notification from track and trace app to isolate for 10 days.
Called work, a care home where we always wear masks, and have had a test on site. One of my close colleagues has tested positive, but the day that she had tested didn't tally up with the days I had been told to isolate for. If the days did tally up, I would be able to go to work and ignore the message to self isolate.
But guess what, the day I last saw her (two days before she tested) does tally up with how many days i have to isolate for!
I haven't been anywhere else except to see my dad (support bubble, who hasnt tested positive) and occasionally in the shop, but would not have been within two meters of some one for 15 minutes and always wearing a mask.
So am I being unreasonable to think I shouldn't have to isolate if my test comes back negative?

There's your answer.
GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 22/11/2020 17:28
Yes you do. Test and trace (not track and trace) contact everyone who had contact in the 48 hours before symptoms began as that’s the contagious period.
Iwantcollarbones · 22/11/2020 17:29
My dd received notification to isolate so she did. Where she is they test those who have been in contact on day 1, 5 and 10. She felt fine and tested negative on day one, however she tested positive on day 5.
There is a reason they tell you to isolate
vanillandhoney · 22/11/2020 17:29
YABU.
A negative test is irrelevant here.
LadyCatStark · 22/11/2020 17:30
Erm... yes you do...
dementedpixie · 22/11/2020 17:30
Your Bluetooth has obviously decided you were close enough for long enough to trigger the isolation text. It doesn't matter if you test negative as you could be in the incubation period.
Pacif1cDogwood · 22/11/2020 17:30
Yes, you do.
IME the advice from Test and Trace is really robust and clear. Not sure what you are unsure about.
LuaDipa · 22/11/2020 17:30
False negatives are a thing. You should do as requested.
LIZS · 22/11/2020 17:30
She would have been infectious up to 48 hours prior to symptoms. T and T asks for contacts in that period.
Nottherealslimshady · 22/11/2020 17:31
Yes you have to isolate because you got told to isolate.
FippertyGibbett · 22/11/2020 17:31
Turn the app off 😉
FippertyGibbett · 22/11/2020 17:31
After you’ve isolated.
BusyBB · 22/11/2020 17:33
@GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat
Thanks for correction, I'm obviously behind the times!
Ffsnosexallowed · 22/11/2020 17:34
Check with your employer. Where i work (nhs) if we're told to isolate because of a positive colleague we can get further advice/investigation by our local health protection team.
BusyBB · 22/11/2020 17:35
@dementedpixie
Yeah, we leave all our bags in the office together :$
BusyBB · 22/11/2020 17:37
@Ffsnosexallowed yeah it was my employer who say if I'd been asked to isolate for 12 days instead of 10 I could ignore it.
Longtalljosie · 22/11/2020 17:38
I’m involved in some Covid management at work. A lot of people have a contact, get a test quickly, test negative then fall ill 4/5 days later and test positive.
Bluetrews25 · 22/11/2020 17:39
The app doesn't know that you are all wearing masks.
Discuss with your manager.
FippertyGibbett · 22/11/2020 17:40
We have been told to wear a mask at all times in work so that if someone tests positive we don’t have to isolate.
BusyBB · 22/11/2020 17:40
It seems that really ALL my colleagues should be isolating then, but not all of us have downloaded the app! Feel like I've tried to do the right thing but now ending up missing out on pay because of it!
dementedpixie · 22/11/2020 17:40
If your phone is not on your person then I would turn tracking off and then turn it back on when you have it with you again.
How close would you have been to your colleague in the 48 hours before she got symptoms?
AcornAutumn · 22/11/2020 17:41
@FippertyGibbett
Seriously, I’m a bit confused. Are you saying it doesn’t add up and only the app told you?
My understanding is that if I had the app, the thin wall between my bedroom and next door’s bedroom would think we were in the same place!
dementedpixie · 22/11/2020 17:41
And I didn't think masks stopped you having to isolate unless you were wearing proper PPE
BusyBB · 22/11/2020 17:43
@Bluetrews25
@FippertyGibbett
Yeah I did discuss that we've been wearing masks and it couldn't have been from anywhere else with the covid officer at work!
BusyBB · 22/11/2020 17:45
@dementedpixie I was across the room from her (6m?) In a meeting for 30 mins.
