Are you a good citizen?

I am so sick of the naysayers for the vaccine. All the rigorous testing is being completed at top speed no CHM or FDA would allow a vaccine to pass through without it.

         People are dying.

I applied for the vaccine trial but due to health reasons will be some time before I am allowed it.

I will one of the many will be relying on others to get vaccinated to help it being less virulent in general society.

When I ask if you are a good citizen? I'm asking do you care about your friend with auto immune disorder, your scared elderly neighbour and your mate with asthma who is worried?

There is purposeful misinformation on the internet to disrupt the vaccine distribution

I would rather read the CHM information and WHO if you are worried.

The sooner we see this go from society the sooner life and business will return.

Almost certainly headed for Room 101. Anyone care to join me? 😂

rosie39forever · 22/11/2020 11:55

I will have the vaccine, not so much to protect myself but to protect my immune comprised dh, my elderly parents and everyone who is not able to have it. We need to stop thinking about ourselves and do our bit for society to get back to normality.

Orangeblossom7777 · 22/11/2020 11:59

I think people should decide for themselves.

Orangeblossom7777 · 22/11/2020 12:00

It also seems to work in the elderly etc so they can have it too, they are first in line

Not a member of your community or care for others - 101 seems suitable for you I think

I would absolutely have the vaccine to protect everyone I could.

lljkk · 22/11/2020 13:13

No OP. Can't agree. I'm a presumably evil person who believes in patient autonomy.

Orangeblossom7777 · 22/11/2020 13:15

This is going to be the next thing isn't it. Shaming people into getting the vaccine.

lljkk · 22/11/2020 13:16

I guess OP thinks this is a philosophy of bad citizens.

Remmy123 · 22/11/2020 13:23

I think it's very sensible for all individuals to look into these new vaccines before deciding if you want to put it in to your own body!

frozendaisy · 22/11/2020 13:26

Yes I will have the vaccine, to protect myself, family, loved ones and everyone else in society. In that order. But amounts to the same thing I will have the vaccine when it's my turn.

I must be as well. It won't keep me awake at night.

This is going to be the next thing isn't it. Shaming people into getting the vaccine.

People will be wasting their time trying that with me. I'm openly unashamed of my opinions on everything Covid related now.

littlebillie · 22/11/2020 14:03

There are rumours that there will entrance incentives to concerts, theatres and travel for those who are vaccinated.

It's not then being community it's about self interest

Thank God this wasn't the sentiment in WWII. Everyone for themselves

It isn't unreasonable to be concerned about the vaccine or what more information/time before. People should be able to make their own choices about their own body like we have always been able to do. I will have the vaccine but can understand others choices not to.

Jrobhatch29 · 22/11/2020 14:11

Before having it*

sirfredfredgeorge · 22/11/2020 14:30

and your mate with asthma who is worried?

I hate the false equivalence with asthma, the vast majority of people will not adjust their driving habits to reduce air-pollution, they'll campaign against increase in petrol prices, complain about school streets and low-traffic-neighbourhoods.

So why is it covid that means that the mate with asthma is significant when you can't walk to the shops to help them out?

If being a good citizen is genuinely forgiving all your conveniences to protect a few others, then can we have extended to more than covid please?

Orangeblossom7777 · 22/11/2020 14:40

Why can the mate with asthma not have the vaccine? Confused

Pollynextdoor · 22/11/2020 14:44

Yes I will have the vaccine and follow the advise of scientists and medical professionals. Interested to understand where people are supposed to “be looking into the vaccine” themselves. Presumably on conspiracy theorist websites on the internet?

I agree that the person with asthma can have the vaccine but do we only vaccinate those who need it as this will not create the must needed herd immunity, the more people I step up the better.

I totally agree being a good citizen goes further than Covid

So true!
It's because berating others is a lot easier than making actual changes to one's own behaviour; and because people generally have an inability to concern themselves with medium to long term consequences.

Also all the social media sites are being criticised for false damaging information about the vaccine. This is more worrying as it means there is an significant agenda to create distrust and lessen the herd which means it may be around for years.

Yes I will have the vaccine. I was offered the Swine Flu vaccine when that came out as I was pregnant. I decided against it as I felt it wasn't just me, and as I was two weeks away from giving birth I decided to not use public transport or go out much instead (we would call it self-isolating now).
Interestingly I haven't seen pregnant women on the priority list for this vaccine.

OpheliasCrayon · 22/11/2020 15:19

Well, I'm the mate with the autoimmune disorder who also isn't allowed to have the vaccine .
But if I wasn't that mate then yeah of course I'd have it.

OpheliasCrayon · 22/11/2020 15:21

However I couldn't give a shit that I have an autoimmune disorder or that I can't have the vaccine this said so it doesn't bother me if people have it or not. But if I could have it I would but not because I think it would make me a good person or not
