He got the text last night. 19yo and can't leave the house for 14 days except to get essential shopping or medical treatment if there's no one else to go for him. So because we can go, he can't leave the house for any reason.
It seems highly likely that his "contact" was actually someone at work who he doesn't work that closely with but whose phone in in the staff room all day with his! He hasn't had a call from contact tracers. I can see why people aren't using the app.
He will comply but I'm probably a bit late in understanding exactly what this means. He can't even go out to stretch his legs or get some fresh air for a fortnight! That can't be good for his general health or his ability to fight any illness should it come. Everything we know about health and immunity recommends, outdoors, nature, exercise, company.
He'll also lose two weeks pay but because he's been notified by the app, not contact tracers, he's not entitled to claim the £500 isolation payment (How does that make any sense, have I got that right?) He'll be fine but for some that would cause tremendous stress, again not good for immunity.
He will comply, but I completely understand why some might not.
