Is there still norovirus about?

I’ve not heard of any cases at school this year so far. With all the extra precautions, are people catching it this year?

Yes, reported in Northamptonshire , or at least a vomiting bug which is rife and norovirus was mentioned in the Northampton Chronicle article?

Lots of d&v in West Yorkshire by the looks of the local newspaper.

Eurgh, I'd hoped it was having a year off..

This is actually the longest we've gone without having a sickness bug in the house since my daughter was born four and a half years ago (last time we all had norovirus was early Sep last year). Silver linings and all that...

I have a slight huge sickness phobia and am more prone to sickness bugs than anything respiratory-related so tbh I'd rather take my chances with Covid than norovirus!!

I don't know if it's norovirus but DS has just been off school for a week with a tummy bug. Half of his class have come down with it.

I don't think the measures will do much to prevent norovirus as hand sanitiser doesn't kill it. You need soap and water and in most schools there aren't enough sinks for regular hand washing so hand sanitiser is being used instead (fine for covid, just not for noro)

Oh god first year not has it SO FAR

A few people I know who had Covid had d&v at the onset, it's another of those quite common symptoms that are missing from the testing criteria

Ha yes. I’ve not been ill for a year. No sickness bugs, no colds, nothing. Seems wrong in the middle of a pandemic but...

We don't use sanitiser much- we wash hands 8-12 times daily (year 1 class). No noro here yet but the class next door had a projective vom this week.

Same here.. Bar two extremely minor colds in the DC (as in a few sneezes), we have been illness-free since February.. Pretty unheard of in a household with a four-year-old and two-year-old attending school and nursery..

From Sep 19-Feb 20 however, we had norovirus (all of us), numerous major colds (with temperatures and night time coughing-induced vomiting - DD), chickenpox (DS), impetigo (DS) and a strange viral rash (DS). To be fair, DS only started nursery last August but still... shudder.

Apart from the whole pandemic thing, it has been a blissful eight months..

Oh god, I've jinxed it now, haven't I..
