Rapid result test

8 replies

Mydogisagentleman · 20/11/2020 14:35

My 19 year old is due to return from university in early December, she said that she will be tested and given a rapid result in order to be able to travel.
My parents are elderly, and we are hoping to spend Xmas day together.
I would like to buy a rapid result test but can’t find out where.
Any ideas?

They are not on sale yet. From what I have heard university students are to be given 2 tests, 6 days apart and if they are both negative then they can return home in the time window given to them. If you are able to collect your daughter it would be better than having them travel on public transport.

Thanks for that, we were planning to collect. It’s about the same time driving as getting a train

You can buy them if you’re a HCP. Do you know any dentists or doctors?

Mydogisagentleman · 21/11/2020 18:10

@toothfairycat tragically no.
I could ring my GP and ask for advice, but since they are not seeing patients and the receptionists are a bit tricky I don’t hold out much hope

You can’t buy them in the UK. (Even HCPs, though many of those are being given them - millions being rolled out in the nhs now.)

I did think I would have trouble.
I’ve been watching Hospital on telly.
The Royal Free gets 13 a day. The virologist is tearing her hair out.

You’ll need a GMC number or similar to order.
