Currently self-isolating....

So I was told by the NHS app I needed to self isolate for 9 days (all fine totally will do this)
I think it's been a positive case in my office where all social distance measures are in place and I wear a mask when not seated at my desk so I'm not too worried but understand the situation.
However, earlier tonight my leg went dead and for some reason my brain didn't register this I got up and basically have rolled my ankle, it's very swollen and although I can just about weight bare it's very painful!
What do I do now as think it probably will need an X-ray - I wonder if my GP can refer me to the local urgent care centre? I'm just worried due to self isolating.

You could always try 111 for advice too. Not sure if they can do it for you now

Surely they have ppe? They're not just leaving people with potential broken limbs are they?

Mindymomo · 20/11/2020 08:02

A & E will see you even though you are self isolating. I have twisted my ankle a few times. It’s good that it’s swollen, I was always told that if it’s broken you don’t get swelling. Put ice on it, keep it elevated and wrapped up when you have to walk on it and take painkillers. Or if you want it checked go to A & E early, when they are not so busy.

Thanks everyone.

If you decide to go to A&E, I'd advise ringing ahead to the hospital and checking with them what the protocol is, so that a&e are forewarned - we're self isolating as tested positive, and test and trace said we need to identify the situation in advance for.any healthcare professionals.

Hope if feels better soon!
