Literally within the last hour my throat has started to permanently tickle where i feel the need to keep coughing to try and satisfy the tickle but it isnt clearing if that makes sense. Obviously i will see how tonight goes and reassess first thing (and book a test if no change) but does this sound like anything covid related? Clearly the cough does but im only coughing to satisfy my throat?

It doesn’t to me but I also have this so interested to know. Have you had it before?

Riddlediddle · 19/11/2020 22:51

No never had anythinf like it and when i do a deep breath at the very end it sounds a bit wheezy and whistly which is odd. I am nhs worker (not frontline but still going in daily) and have a child at primary school so there is a fair chance i could have come into contact with covid i guess

If you still feel the same in the morning I would go for a test but it could be tiredness? Hope you feel better soon

Riddlediddle · 19/11/2020 23:03

Yes if no change in the morning i will definately book a test. Hopefully i would get one same/next day being an nhs worker. Its just so bizarre how it has literally come on all of a sudden. I feel absolutely freezing too

Hi, I had Covid a few weeks ago and it started like this. Just the odd tickle and need to clear my throat. I had a test because I’m a key worker and just had a feeling, which is strange because I didn’t feel ill! It was positive and I was fine, only other symptom I developed a few days later was loss of taste and smell.

throwaway100000 · 19/11/2020 23:12

I had this a few weeks ago. 111 advised test

Riddlediddle · 19/11/2020 23:18

Ah ok then looks like a test will probably be needed tomorrow. Thinking about it now my child has been super tired the past 2 nights with dark circles around their eyes and falling to sleep early (no symptoms though) so i just assumed it was because hes been so busy at school but now i wonder if he will also need testing?

Let us know how you get on, I had the wheezing but no change in temp/loss of smell or any other symptoms so will get tested ASAP if needed

Riddlediddle · 20/11/2020 06:41

No coughing in the night at all so just that short period last night. Ive woken up to a sore throat and a cold so now im guessing i dont get a test as they arent symptoms?

Please please please get a test 🙏

My friend had "cold" symptoms and slight cough. She was convinced she didn't have covid - no temperature, no loss of smell/taste, phlegmy cough rather than dry cough - but luckily she got a test just in case. It was positive!

It is much better to get a test to be on the safe side. Worst case - it comes back negative. If it's positive you isolate and it could stop you giving it to others.

Please just test!

Mindymomo · 20/11/2020 07:25

I would get a test for you both today and you will probably get results back over the weekend, so you won’t have to isolate for long. A cough is enough to get a test.

Cornettoninja · 20/11/2020 09:38

I agree it’s worth you testing. I wouldn’t be allowed into work (a hospital) with cold symptoms as of this week.

On a personal level you’re not going to stop wondering so it seems easier all round to test and know for certain.

PapercraftNinja · 26/11/2020 22:46

Just coming on to say I had the exact same symptoms, tested and it came back negative. Still coughing with no other symptoms but it’s not dry.

Bolshybun · 26/11/2020 22:54

My husband described his cough as just needing to clear his throat and tickly, it never got any worse than that.
