When does isolation start?

When you isolate is it 10 days from the day you get symptoms? Or 10 days from getting a positive result? Or 10 days from getting the test?
Luckily not something I've had to deal with but with cases rising in my area I'm worried I might have to deal with it at some point?

From when your symptoms started, or your test if you had no symptoms.
This is pretty clear on the NHS website, easily available through google.

This is what I thought but MiL had symptoms start last Mon, test results came thru on Fri Positive, her track and trace app has the isolation countdown as 10 days from the test result and not the symptoms..

The more I hear about the App the more crap it seems

The app has no information about when symptoms start. How could it start a countdown from a date it doesn’t know?

The app is erring on the safe side and going off what will be the later date-the day you took the test that came back positive.
