Were you checked up on when self isolating?

Just curious really. I'm self isolating due to positive test, fully intend to carry on, WFH anyway so not finding it too bad.

Read a lot on the news though about 'spot checks', receiving calls to make sure, fines, police knocking on doors etc...

Has anyone actually had this happen when self isolating? I've not heard anything but worry because I have no phone signal at home other than in one awkward spot upstairs! What happens if I miss a call? Confused

If I was actually ill in bed I wouldn't be dragging myself downstairs to answer a ring of the bell. Sod Plod.

Vanannabananna · 17/11/2020 16:55

Took them 72 hours to contact us then after our 2 year old tested positive. Despite me repeatedly telling them I’d contacted all who needed to isolate and giving them the details they kept asking who else been in contact with. We did receive a single message or phone call the entire isolation. System isbt fit for purpose.

walksen · 17/11/2020 17:03

I filled in the online form. Got a message at nearly 10pm then a follow up claiming there was missing information.

I told them I'd cut all contact and not socialised with anyone for a fortnight after a third of my workplace went off with covid so i had no close contacts outside of work.

That was the only call I had.

It does seem a waste to be ringing people multiple times - although it’d be nice if they checked in on those living alone or single/both adults ill with small children/living with vulnerable people. I worry about people taking a turn for the worst and not trying to get hold of anyone.

@FredtheFerret

So many calls. Texting and phoning mobile every day. Phoning house phone almost every day. People 'caringly' reading from a script. I repeatedly asked them to put a note on our files to STOP!

DH and I were constantly called because DC tested positive. The thing was that we then tested positive (both of us) 2 days later and were really poorly. I told EVERY SINGLE PERSON that called - I have Covid. I've tested positive. I'm not going out. I feel really ill - please put a note onto track and trace to stop calling us repeatedly. I'm sure it's lovely if you're on your own, feeling ok and lonely. It's not for us. It's disruptive, we feel ill and we're not going anywhere and the constant phone calls - where the caller is then surprised to discover we actually have Covid - are not helping.

We just disconnected house phone in the end and turned mobiles to silent.

What happened? Did they give up in the end, or send someone round in person?

I would have to block their number I think. They could send someone local round if they liked. But I couldn’t be having this. I don’t even know our home phone number so they couldn’t have that anyway. It obvious that there’s no way of tagging additional information on their crap serco software.

missanony · 17/11/2020 18:32

I had no contact at all except from the email and text with the result Confused

redkenso · 17/11/2020 18:55

I hope I don't, i haven't given permission for them to have my mobile number so if they call me they are breaching gdpr. They have my landline number but it's not got a phone plugged in to it.

Bobtheshark · 17/11/2020 19:02

I have friends who fly regularly between here and Spain and no one has ever checked on them.

kimlo · 17/11/2020 19:02

some one at work tested positive at the same time as someone she lives with. She said she got no phone calls and the other person got loads.

Someone else I know baby tested positive, she got loads too.

Heartofglass12345 · 17/11/2020 19:05

My son had to isolate as someone in his class tested positive but we didn't hear anything. I applied for a track and trace job and it said on the job description that part of the job was phoning people every day who were self isolating.
My friends little girl has been isolating after her teacher tested positive and she said they phoned her every day

PortalooSunset · 18/11/2020 10:47

I've not had to isolate after testing positive since t&t was a thing, but when I did due to symptoms during the beginning of things back in March I got daily calls/texts from the boss, but that's standard practice when we're off sick anyway. Was kept on the loop about things I needed to know by colleagues at the same level as well. Didn't feel intrusive.
From what I hear of t&t it's all or nothing, no middle ground.

Janedownourlane · 18/11/2020 11:59

Slightly different but my son flew in from Europe. Had the virus whilst abroad, tested positive and was well recovered. Flew into the UK and quarantined, 14 days inside, no outside trips until day 15. Not a squeak from anyone checking up. No consistency.

blobbyface · 18/11/2020 13:37

I tested positive 12 days ago. I got no calls, but dh and ds1, who had to self isolate, have got 3 phone calls each so far. I was most put out that they don't care about me and didn't ring!

Kamma89 · 18/11/2020 13:51

Endless calls & texts. If you don't answer the calls they leave voicemails & call back & back & back ... must be a crap job though so tried to stay polite

3rdNamechange · 18/11/2020 13:57

Nothing. Although a friend had several calls.

FredtheFerret · 18/11/2020 19:38

@Lemons1571

I have no idea, to be honest. We tolerated the calls for about ten days of feeling really poorly and then turned everything off. I suspect after the 14 days they give up. We're fairly rural and no one turned up on our doorstep!

Still feeling ill almost a month down the line.

MrsGradyOldLady · 18/11/2020 20:47

I never got a call at all. I just got daily text messages. My partner who also tested positive just had one missed call and then nothing at all after. Not even text messages. So I'm a bit surprised at some of the answers on here. They clearly had both our phone numbers

WhenTwoBecomeThree · 18/11/2020 21:01

We were contacts of someone who tested positive, me and DP had two calls each and continues texts about self isolating and any support we may need. It was ridiculous! They're just covering they're own backs really and if you say you're self isolating, it probably puts people off going out (i know they shouldnt be anyway but there's always people who try and beat the system), but they ask if you're compliant and all calls are recorded.

ruby29 · 18/11/2020 21:10

My daughter tested positive, we didn’t have any contact from T&T. She has the app and informed college and anyone she’d been in contact with so don’t think it made any difference but not very reassuring that the system is functional ..

quarentini · 18/11/2020 21:19

Dd2 had to isolate in September.
She got a call on her mobile on day 12 off T&T to check she was still isolating at home.
When she replied "yes"
He said " you won't mind opening the front door then"
They were outside the house doing spot checks
