Worried sick can't sleep

Hello everyone my little girl (4) started off yesterday with a cold very snotty no temp I kept her off pre school as she was too unwell to go. Anyway this morning get a call to say her bubble has closed as positive case in a child who hasn't been in since last Monday so a week since exposure. During the morning she started coughing so I had her tested this afternoon fast forward to tonight she's coughing quite abit more an sounds chesty , still quite snotty and no temp. If her test is positive will she be ok? She's usually healthy I'm honestly a nervous wreck I don't know anyone else who's young children have tested positive. What was recovery like for your 3/4 year olds if they've had it please? I know her test may well come back negative but my mind is racing right now.

Hello! My 6 year old tested positive 10 days ago. He had one day with high temperature and headaches and has been fine since. He has an underlying health condition (asthma), so like you I was a little anxious. He’s bounced back to good health! Try not to worry!

My understanding is that it’s generally mild in children. Keeping my fingers crossed that her test is negative and she bounces back soon. I completely understand your anxiety though.

This age group is incredibly unlikely to suffer severe symptoms. Do you suffer from anxiety generally?

My 8 year old had Covid, he had a temperature for 48 hours- easily controlled by calpol- a bit of a tummy ache and headache and he was really really tired. He wasn't very ill though, he's had worse colds and chicken pox tbh!! My teenager just felt really tired and had a bit of a cough, not continuous or even anything that bothered him. I was worried about him cos he has asthma and ends up in hospital with croup on a regular basis but he was absolutely fine and carried on playing his x box as normal!

I'm sure your little one will be fine, children get it mildly I believe.

(((Hug))). In most children it's just unpleasant for a few days at worst. Hopefully you e had the worst of it (doing the test!) hopefully you'll get the results soon!! Try to keep rooms ventilated and try not to let her cough in your face & directly at you. The last thing you need is to feel crap while trying to look after her.

Also remember that many many children will have it without any symptoms whatsoever!

It’s perfectly normal to worry about your child when they are ill, it comes as part of being a caring parent. I’ve spent many a night worrying about my boys and still do, they are 24 and 28 now.
