WWYD DP positive colleague

DP and I have had almost 2 weeks apart now as DS tested positive while he was away at his DMs so he stayed there while we have been completing isolation.

During the time away a work colleague of DP has tested positive but he says he is not required to isolate as work colleague sits over the other side of a large office (4-5m) and colleague had worn a visor. Not sure how I feel about this, would you let DP back or make him stay where he is for 2 weeks after contact with the colleague?

I was in closer distance with a colleague who tested positive but it still wasn't within 2m. Because I had surgery coming up I had to check this out with the hospital I was going to and they said it was fine.

We had exactly this scinareo. We carried on as normal, no need for anyone to isolate

The distance means he's not counted as a close contact. (I'd still be cautious however. )Visors make no difference unless someone infectious is spluttering in your face.

(Not sure I understand why DS's isolation whilst with his mum meant that you and DP had to stay apart, but it's not directly relevant anyway.)

He hasn’t had contact though. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Thanks for your replies. It was my DS who was positive Augustbreeze I was a contact as he lives with me and DP but DP had been away so had no contact, DP just stayed where he was as myself and DS had to isolate.

I’m paranoid as I’m just completing my second round of isolation after contact with positives I just don’t want this again.

Ah, I read that as you OP being the father of your ‘DS’ and that DS tested positive while he was away at his DMs so he stayed there. Which also somehow involved your new male partner not seeing you for two weeks either..

Reading your update I think you were saying that it was your current partner who went to see his Mum and your son (you being his Mum) isolated with him whilst your partner stayed away to avoid contact? Now he has had potential exposure? To be fair I’ve been on here for 15 years and that DS/DP/DM combo in that sentence was a challenge!!

Hopefully you won’t have anything to worry about OP - if your DP is particular about handwashing, hand sanitiser, social distancing and his office is taking appropriate precautions (plus he’s the kind of person who would be careful about door handles & touching his face etc) then his risk will be relatively low. Whether I’d feel comfortable with someone who’d had that level of exposure/contact would depend on how careful I think they are generally!

You are correct chipsandgin I am mum to DS and DP was at his own DMs house (luckily) at the time.

It looks like I’ve dodged the covid bullet with 2 positives at my house over the last couple of months I just don’t want to go there again. I want to be level headed just not feeling it right now!
