I just received a letter today to self isolate until December the 2nd. I lied and told work that I didn't have any medical conditions as I needed the job badly.

With Christmas coming up I can't live off sick pay am I allowed to still work?

The shielding stuff is only a guideline not a law, but you could be sacked if you lied on your application.

You only legally need to isolate if you've been in contact with someone with it (or developed symptoms obv).

If the letter is just telling you to isolate because you are vulnerable due to your health, you dont need to isolate, it's a guideline.

I think it’s only guidance. Why did you lie about your medial condition to work?
It would be discrimination if they didn’t offer you a job because of a health condition.

I've had the letter both times and have been working. It's advice not the law

I'm working, but have told my work about it.
