Glitch in Track and Trace?

An elderly couple have both downloaded Track and Trace. They are both vulnerable and haven't left the house since the second lockdown was announced. And rarely before that.

They have had 2 grocery deliveries (drivers stayed outside) and a new fridge which was taken into the kitchen for them. Driver wore a mask, as did they.

They keep their phones together on a coffee table in the living room and they are rarely used. The DW looked at hers yesterday and was told she should be isolating, and should have been for 2 days. Her DH's says nothing.

She hasn't been anywhere, even to take the bins out, and neither has her DH. If it was the fridge man then they both should have got the message, surely?

They've got themselves into a bit of a state about it. Does anyone know if this is common?

Is it genuine? They are si anyway by sounds of it.

They are isolating but are worried that they have allegedly been close to someone who has it so may get it themselves.

My feeling is that if it was a genuine contact it would have been sent to both their phones.

Whose mobile number was on the order for the fridge, as both wouldn't have been provided - I'm guessing her mobile?

Ah, so rather than it pinging through bluetooth, the fridge delivery company has given the contact no. on file of anyone receiving a delivery? Sounds plausible.

The app works by Bluetooth ao you don't need to provide mobile numbers.

If they aren't going anywhere or seeing anyone then maybe they should delete the app.

I've told them to just delete it. I won't download it. We never go anywhere where we can't be very socially distant and deliveries are very Covid safe.

It’s not a legal requirement to isolate when the app says so, only is test and trace contact you.
In this instance I would safely ignore it (although sounds as though they are self isolating anyway).

Is it possible the Bluetooth has picked up the Bluetooth of a next door neighbour who has tested positive? I know their phones are kept on the coffee table but I'm guessing there will be points in the day when one of them is using their phone/moves it?

I'm a bit late to this but this happened to me! My app pinged to say I needed to self isolate and DHs just said he had had a contact but not to worry. We had been mainly isolating and WFH. I could not think of a contact that could have triggered it. Our neighbours are more than 2m away. We had a workman round doing some external work but nothing within 2m and he would have actually been closed to DH. I did serve out my isolation but I've deleted the app now.
