When will they tell us about Xmas rules?

I have plan A (just us at home) and plan B (with a couple of relatives an hour away).....but I kind of hope we won't be hanging on until the 21st Dec or something to find out what we're allowed to do.

I feel like the government already know what they are planning - December 2nd lockdown (sort of) lifts, mass movement of students 3/12-9/12.....I'm sure they know what is coming next.

I'd just like to know whether I need to buy small and send or handover in person, buy turkey or not, prepare autistic child for whichever etc. It's not the end of the world and I actually don't care which it is, I just don't massively like having my options decided by others and not being told!

24th December when it becomes clear people are doing what they usually do, going where they usually go and to hell with it all.

I’m guessing it with be tier restrictions unless they lift for a short period. Which tier will depend on the numbers towards the end of November but they could change mid December if lifting the national lockdown and students travelling has a significant impact.
I do think we all need to hold our horses and see what the numbers are like nearer the time. I’d hope there will be a plan in place by mid December though.

I live 3 hours from my parents who are in their 80s, we usually say over at Xmas

Well even if Boris says we can we won't because they won't have had a vaccine by then and it's no different from me going to stay today

It doesn't matter what the government says, people will do what they want to.

It's the after effects of the mass gatherings and mixing that will be important. Probably a lockdown similar to the first one where schools etc close.

I totally get that. If I had my way we would just stay at home but relatives (who are not vulnerable or old etc) want us to stick to plan b first and plan a only if necessary. It's really tricky pleasing everyone and I do want to see them.

I have no choice but to make plans with an autistic child. Even breakfast has to have a plan 🤣

The restrictions cannot be known until very close to the time unless the restrictions are over the top and more restrictive than warranted by the covid situation. Every single model of virus spread has been absolutely woeful, there is no chance to know what the situation will be in late December.

Mid December is the absolute earliest restrictions should be made, and they absolutely need to be based on local conditions so they are respected.
