How far are you from a test centre?

I feel like we’re really lucky and are about a 15 minute drive from a test place.
How far are you?

I’m just heading off there now (for the second time today after taking my DD this morning and then having realised I can’t taste my lunch).

Oh looking at these other replies it seems quite far!

Essexgirlupnorth · 14/11/2020 14:28

Two within 10 minutes drive in different directions there is sometimes one within walking distance but is temporary in a major city but in September was trying to get a test because I had a cough and wanted to send me hundreds of miles

loriat · 14/11/2020 14:28

10 minute walk

MissAHannigan · 14/11/2020 15:00

15 minutes on foot to the walk through test centre.

bloodywhitecat · 14/11/2020 15:02

About a 40 minute drive away. I am currently trying to figure out how to order a home kit for a small baby as there is no way this old girl can clamber into the back seat to swab the little one.

PurBal · 14/11/2020 15:14

5 minute walk

ragged · 14/11/2020 15:15

Is it true that you must drive if you get a test appointment -- I have impression that no one is allowed to walk up or cycle to the scheduled test appointment. Must be in a car, not even a motorbike would be allowed.

Apparently we have 2 test centres within 25 minute drive.

m0therofdragons · 14/11/2020 15:19

5 minutes in the car, 30 minutes walk.

m0therofdragons · 14/11/2020 15:20

@ragged that’s untrue, we have people walking through our drive thru.

Abzs · 14/11/2020 15:21

I think there is one in the next town, which is twelve miles. The next nearest is probably one of the city ones, 30-40 miles.
The one that's nearest to us is still 40 miles from some people in the county though.

ragged · 14/11/2020 15:22

Thanks m0ther. DH would have cycled to his but we thought not allowed to cycle up. We will know if need to go another time.

gamerchick · 14/11/2020 15:24

Surrounded. Drive ins and walk ins, seen within the hour when you book.

SocialBees · 14/11/2020 15:24

25 mins drive from home (or 2 min walk from work)

ShakespearesSisters · 14/11/2020 15:27

Less than a mile.

Lululemming · 14/11/2020 15:44

Nearest one is 35 miles away but a few weeks ago when I needed a test I ordered a home one on a Friday night and it was delivered Saturday morning via Amazon. Very impressed, and the nearest "special post box" to send it back is about 5 miles away.

Mcmole · 14/11/2020 15:47

there's a walk in one about 15-20 mins walk away, and a drive in a few minutes drive away.

MarshaBradyo · 14/11/2020 15:48

Ten minute drive

mejon · 14/11/2020 15:49

13 miles or 25 minutes by car to my nearest one. This is a drive-in one. There was a temporary walk-in site when the university had a spike at the beginning of term but I've no idea if it's still there. Would make sense as many of those who actually live in town have no way of accessing the drive-in.

When DD and I needed a test in August, we were unable to get a slot at the nearest one and had to do a 3 hour round trip to the next nearest with slots. There are 2 others roughly a 2 hour round trip away but they're not always available.

whataballbag · 14/11/2020 15:49

We have about 7 within a 15 minute drive. Maybe more.

MrsJonesAndMe · 14/11/2020 15:50

Some days we have one set up in town - so about 2 miles away, but other days it's not there, so no idea where we'd be sent. I know there's a big permanent one about an hour away....and we're not rural or anything!

FuzzyPuffling · 14/11/2020 16:58

Don't really know, but I suspect it's at the nearest hospital, so nearly 50 miles away.
There's been an occasional one in a car park at our closest small town (7 miles) but it's only there now and again. And no -one seems to know when!

Dugsbollox · 14/11/2020 21:01

The nearest drive in one is around half an hour away. I'm not sure where the walk in centres are, there were no available appointments in them when I needed one.

Numberblock7 · 14/11/2020 21:13

Walk thru (with parking next door) 1.5 miles, drive thru 4 miles/10 minutes away.

CaptainMerica · 14/11/2020 22:09

Normally 35 miles, but luckily there was a pop up test site 20 miles away the week I needed it.

mouse70 · 14/11/2020 22:19

Nearest is 25 minutes drive away two more one 40 mins drive another 45 mins drive away
