How long after a positive test

Will it take the people down the chain to show symptoms or test positive?

I had a wax last night.

Salon called this morning to say that another customer in the salon on Wednesday has now tested positive. The staff member who saw me and that customer has been for a test this morning which threw me as I thought you had to have symptoms first. She doesn’t have any. I’m not sure if I should do anything now or not.

On average its 5 days after contact? Were you in contact with the positive case? And no she shouldn't have got tested with no symptoms. Does she wear new protective PPE with each client?

No, no contact with the positive case at all. Yes, all PPE in place. My appointment was about just under an hour.

So whats the timeline?

Wednesday - client who tested positive in salon
Thursday - you get a wax
Friday - client tests positive

Googling suggests incubation period of 2 - 14 days and infectious 2 days before symptoms and up to 10 days after they start (average 5 days)

Staff member should isolate for 14 days regardless of negative test as they are within the incubation period.
You dont need to isolate as you had no contact with the positive case.
