Anyone had intense chills as a first symptom?

Trying to figure out if I just have a common cold/flu! Usually I am boiling at night (menopausal) but I woke up at 5am absolutely freezing, shivering and shaking with the cold. This is not me at all. It took ages to warm up again and I feel a bit achy, very slight sore throat, bit of a woozy head rather than a headache. No other symptoms. I don’t have anywhere to be over the next 4 days anyway so will see how it goes. I did google it and apparently it’s a symptom in some people (although usually not the first symptom) but wondered if anyone here has experienced it?

That sounds like flu. Not sure it's much comfort, sorry! Hopefully it's neither flu nor covid and you'll feel better in a day or so.

I think it's possible op. I would book a test to be on the safe side. I hope you feel better soon

I had this for 24 hours, tested but was negative and it just suddenly stopped. Very weird.

Rootsandshoots · 13/11/2020 12:47

Exactly how I started unfortunately. I then had a positive test 5 days later (couldn’t get tested earlier as had no temperature or other symptoms despite the chills). Chills disappeared and felt fine again the next day then 4 days later lost all taste and smell.
Good luck!! FWIW I had a very mild illness and didn’t particularly feel ill or “off it”

This was first symptom for my adult DS who went on to test positive

My relative talked about chills as his first symptom. We counted that as day one, he tested positive on day four. He's on the mend now. Buy an oximeter and a thermometer if you can so you can monitor closely. Good luck, I hope it's no more than a bad cold.

Chills are noted as an early symptom and can happen without a high temperature.

Yes my husband had it very early on, said the bottom half of his legs were like ice! Best to check I'd say

Londonmummy00 · 13/11/2020 14:23

This was my first symptom also... other symptoms such as loss of taste/ smell and cough came much later ...

Meruem · 13/11/2020 15:19

Thanks everyone. Looks like wait and see for now. I had a look on the testing website but as Roots said, I don’t have any of the eligible symptoms for testing so can’t do it now. Decided to just rest today anyway.

Yup. Chills, aches and a fever simultaneously. Very tired. Then night sweats. Then the cough which was really annoying. I worked ( at home) through it but felt pretty rough.
