Anyone actually applied for the isolation grant and received it?

Me and my husband tested positive for covid in the last 2 days, I am a bank HCA for the NHS and not entitled to anything and my husband will get SSP.

We do qualify but I've not heard anyone who's got it and was wondering if it's hard to get and the time frame to find out, thanks 🍰

My daughter applied and then 3 days later our local council said she’d been approved and it was in her bank a few days later. She’s on universal credit

You can only get the £500 payment if you're on means tested benefits and working at the same time.

In my case, as a sole trader, I would be told to shut down my business for a fortnight, earn nothing, still have all my overheads and personal expenses (little luxuries like, y'know, paying the rent), and then receive no help whatsoever from government.

I'm already one of the 3 million Excluded from financial support, having lost my peak summer season.

I can't afford to self isolate because of the lack of financial support, so I will be forced to keep working regardless. Self employed people have always kept working until they're physically unable to stand up, because we don't get paid otherwise, and I guess this will have to be the same as usual.

I wouldn't get it. I work a min wage full time job and claim no benefits so just SSP. Can't live on that but still more than the person in the post above me Sad
