Home test v drive thru

So kids are isolating, they have both had cases in different schools (primary).

I ordered home tests this morning as I am feeling rubbish, taste is off, I'm aching, tired slight temp etc. Also thought this was a cunning plan as I and husband are working out nuts off from home, 11 hours a day on teams and now home schooling, nearest test is an hour away.

But this afternoon my son has a temperature, everyone is a bit low. What was I thinking.

Should I just have gone for a drive thru test, can I still book one now the postal tests are on their way.

I feel like an idiot I prioritised time over testing.

I don't know if the system would let you book one if you've already booked a home test. Are there are slots available? The tests should arrive tomorrow and then when you've done them, you have to post them in a priority mailbox so they get rushed back for processing. So feasibly. It may be that the home tests would be being processed not that much later than the drive through tests.

I was tempted to do drive through when I did mine as I hoped they administered it for you. But they wanted you to administer it in the car. I thought it would be hard enough to take the sample at home so decided not to try and do it in the tiny mirror of a car!

If you are feeling poorly can't you take time off pending the outcome of the test?

Crakeandoryx · 11/11/2020 22:08

Surely if the children are isolating anyway then it makes little difference. They will still have to stay in as will you and your DH until they are tested. You could book a drive through and keep the home test kits for a later date.

Ime drive thru will get you an answer far faster than a home test, so that's something you may wish to consider.

I would love to but we are in a busy period, I run the team, I can't work at full speed but I have to help. Oh and we're going through a restructure!

But the company are really keen to tell us that they care desperately about our well being and mental health...The irony.

I'm hoping this is just a regular lurgy.

Ah I work for one of those companies. Very concerned about our wellbeing and families. But want even more output even quicker now we're WFH.

Yes exactly that, sounds like you're coughing, take some time, get some restbut if you could just whip that paper together in between home schooling and your thick head that would be much appreciated. Oh and make sure you motivate your team and show leadership. Face, palm.

We had tests 3 weeks ago and I booked home tests because it just seems like the easiest option when you're on the booking page and it says they're available. If there's a next time, I'll be going to the drive through.

Home test we ordered Sunday 10pm, came 11am Monday sent off 4pm Monday
Results Wednesday morning.

Drive through test is a 24 hour turn around.

If you're all isolating anyway I'd just do the home ones

Thanks for the replies! Tests ordered yesterday morning, arrived this morning, I thought it was shoes from Amazon! Sent back, so now we will wait and see.
