Good or bad idea? How would you feel about wearing a wristband?

Maybe we can have the vaccine batch number tattooed on our wrists along with the numbers for all the other vaccines we've had for far more contagious and deadly diseases... 🤔

knittingaddict · 12/11/2020 14:54

Terrible idea. A negative result in a virus test is worth nothing a mere few hours later.

Yes and a Microchip

Bushola · 12/11/2020 15:52

@RishiMcRichface

Yes yellow stars and a sign saying unclean for those with a positive test.
Yet there will be many people here desperately wanting all this. They'll say they are doing it to get back to normal, but the more of this we accept the less likely we are to ever return to normal.

The best quote I've heard in all of this is "this ends when we all say no"

Have you posted about this before @Funkypolar?

Funkypolar · 12/11/2020 20:03

Crunchymum - seeing as I first read this in the news yesterday, no.

It could just be recorded on an embedded microchip.

Used to know someone whose church had foreseen humans being injected with a microchip and considered it a devil mark or some such and having it would consign you to hell. Apart from that, it basically removes your humanity and renders you the same as a dog with a chip in case it gets lost from home.

If we’ve learned anything from history we should know that this is a bad idea

HappyChristmasTreeRex · 13/11/2020 09:46

No thank you.

It's a bit like the bells that lepers had to wear years ago.

Reading the article it was also done in Slovakia after a mass testing drive. If we were testing everyone regularly then this might be part of it but for as long as you are only allowed to get a test if you have one of 3 symptoms when we know a huge percentage are asymptomatic, that means hardly anyone would get the chance to get a wristband. And they would have to expire after a day or two as you could catch it straight after. Add to that the fact that it takes at least 2r hrs but often much longer to get a result and they would be saying " congratulations you were negative when tested and therefore eligible for a band unfortunately the validity period of the band has expired while we failed to process your results, better luck next time!"

Only way I could see it working is if there was universal frequent testing with a reliable instant test and the negatives from that had a very short limited bracelet opportunity to do something extra.

Bedraggledmumoftwo · 13/11/2020 10:09

24 hrs sorry

LizzieMacQueen · 13/11/2020 10:12

Have you seen Contagion? Wristbands for those that had been vaccinated = freedom.

Calmandmeasured1 · 13/11/2020 11:31

A paper wristband? My immediate thought was how easy they will be to fake.
