Good or bad idea? How would you feel about wearing a wristband?

OP posts:
WhentheDealGoesDown · 11/11/2020 17:47

Like a heat sensitive band that changes colour as you get hot...

notimagain · 11/11/2020 17:50

I think they will need a way for people to prove they have been vaccinated.

Well the traditional way used to be a vaccination certificate...

I know such a document might trigger cries of horror from many these days but FWIW an as an example vaccination for Yellow fever, and very importantly carriage of the certificate when travelling is still an a requirement for some roles with some UK employers, for example in the travel /transport sector....

I hasten to add I'm really not keen on the wristband idea but the idea of having to prove you've been vaccinated is not something new.

peboh · 11/11/2020 17:50

Considering you can have a negative test today, then test positive tomorrow I think it's idiotic.

Olmec8 · 11/11/2020 18:05

Can I have one on my other wrist to confirm that I've applied my hemorrhoid cream too?

Or maybe I'll pass.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 11/11/2020 18:16

You do wonder whether the people writing this stuff have ever met the public.

Againstmachine · 11/11/2020 19:01

Absolutely pointless and some disgusting ideas in this post.

A small bit of critical thinking says why this isnt a good idea.

justchecking1 · 11/11/2020 19:05

OP, BI didn't come up with the idea.

This is literally the story line from Contagion with Kate Winslet 😂

TartanDMs · 11/11/2020 19:11

That list of bullet points is nothing more than a list of how to get people to listen to the government regardless of what they announce - encourage compliance by using people they are more likely to not suspect of ulterior motives to tell them what to do, use emotive phrases, make people believe they are getting something for nothing to improve test rates and make the government look more proactive...

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 11/11/2020 19:18

No point as a negative test doesn’t mean the virus will avoid them after the test.

Passports being noted with the vaccine for travel purposes would work.

Disagree with rewards for testing unless part of a study so lots of time given up.

MarshaBradyo · 11/11/2020 19:20

If we don’t vaccinate under fifty bit tricky re travel and passports stamped. Unless everyone lets under fifty off hook globally

FadedRed · 11/11/2020 19:32

Taken from the ‘Meme’ thread.

Jumbogirl · 12/11/2020 13:39

Very bad idea - yellow stars next

2020in2020 · 12/11/2020 13:44

Fucking horrendous idea.

Ways of distinguishing “non infected” people to allow them freedom
Police having powers to enter homes on hearsay of “infected” people gathering
New laws giving powers to detain people if “infected”

This all seems a bit too familiar to me.

We are sleepwalking into a dictatorship.

Bwlch · 12/11/2020 13:47

Is this a joke.

You could catch covid seconds after the swab was taken. Utterly pointless.

JustBidenMyTime · 12/11/2020 14:05

Agree.

Also with a 90% vaccination, any wristband/certificate is pretty useless also since 10% of those wristbands/certificates will be inaccurate and worthless - except for the external value put on them by numpties.

Apparently you can buy negative covid tests online, so guess the black market in covid corruption will just expand to meet the demand that this kind of external signalling of being 'safe' generates.

Unless a vaccine is 100% or unless they can train to avoid anyone with a negative test result, this ideology is at best misleading and dangerous, at worse creates second-class citizens and a massive black market to cheat the system.

JustBidenMyTime · 12/11/2020 14:06
  • train the virus
SillyCow6 · 12/11/2020 14:09

Ridiculous because even when you get what people are calling a negative result, you are really being told covid19 was UNDETECTED, not a dead cert negative Hmm

GreyishDays · 12/11/2020 14:09

Buy tests online? @JustBidenMyTime

Is that a swabbed test to post off, or a code from a test?

JustBidenMyTime · 12/11/2020 14:16

@GreyishDays
I don't know how it works! I am a law-abiding middle-aged Mum!
I just hear it from the teenagers.
There's a market for everything. Positive tests, negative tests - people will always be on the make!

GreyishDays · 12/11/2020 14:24

I should clarify that I wasn’t wanting to buy one! Grin Just being nosey.

JustBidenMyTime · 12/11/2020 14:28
Halo
helloxhristmas · 12/11/2020 14:29

what a ridiculous idea. How do you even see a wristband in winter?

Fakes / Dupes / Ebay.

Makes no sense.

Idontgiveagriffindamn · 12/11/2020 14:31

@Marmite27

Are they going to give out yellow stars too Angry
That’s exactly what I was thinking reading this. Made me feel quite sick
Cocothefirst · 12/11/2020 14:33

Absolutely bloody not.

RishiMcRichface · 12/11/2020 14:37

Yes yellow stars and a sign saying unclean for those with a positive test.
