Good or bad idea? How would you feel about wearing a wristband?

No; pointless branding and potentially very divisive. Given that the majority of people won't be eligible for a vaccine for an indeterminate length of time, it's meaningless. But I'm sure the Kardashians & their I'll will manage to get the 'unavailable' private vaccines denied to everyone else and wear their special bracelets at every opportunity. In fact, they'll probably hand out vaccines & tastefully diamond encrusted limited edition bracelets at the party to celebrate the end of covid (at least among the haves)

CarrieBlue · 11/11/2020 16:27

You’ve posted this before OP, and the thread was deleted - why are you resurrecting it now? (It’s still a stupid idea, unworkable and totally open to abuse, would cause infection rates to rocket)

SorrelBlackbeak · 11/11/2020 16:29

Utterly pointless while the lockdown is still in place as there is nowhere to go and anyone with half a brain would know that if they go out and about they might just come across someone who is infected whether or not they're wearing a wristband.

SpookyNoise · 11/11/2020 16:30

No way. It’s pointless and ridiculous.

Funkypolar · 11/11/2020 16:34

@CarrieBlue - why are you saying I’ve posted before? I certainly haven’t on this matter!

Reading it in the Independent today is the first I’ve heard of it.

Are they going to give out yellow stars too Angry

TheQueef · 11/11/2020 16:36

How much have they been paid for coming up with this?
Where did that money come from?

maddy68 · 11/11/2020 16:39

Makes sense so places like music festivals , football stadiums etc can open I would imagine there is a scannerble chip to avoid forgery

lunar1 · 11/11/2020 16:42

I think they will need a way for people to prove they have been vaccinated.

ShagMeRiggins · 11/11/2020 16:45
Hmm
Wearing a wristband to identify you’ve tested negative
Starlightstarbright1 · 11/11/2020 16:45

@nogooddeedgoesunpunished

Seriously ?! Why not just stamp a cross on people's front doors and a mark on their foreheads so we can be absolutely clear who's infected? History shows us that's a very dangerous path to go down
This is exactly what I thought when I read it
FirstItGiveth · 11/11/2020 16:50

Vaccination isn't mandatory though.

Coyoacan · 11/11/2020 16:51

I think they will need a way for people to prove they have been vaccinated

It is questionable whether everyone needs to be vaccinated and then even more questionable how long it would take to make and distribute vaccines to every member of the human race.

As far as I know, in Mexico, for example, they are initially go to get 35 million vaccines for a population of about 130 million people.

MarshaBradyo · 11/11/2020 16:52

@lunar1

I think they will need a way for people to prove they have been vaccinated.
The plan isn’t to vaccinate everyone though? Read on here re quote from Kate, vaccine task force. Only those at risk.
Fouroclockonamarblemorning · 11/11/2020 16:53

Absolutely pointless because there’s nothing to say you can’t catch it twice.

TenShortStories · 11/11/2020 16:57

Utterly pointless - they'd be as useful for identifying who doesn't have covid as wristbands that had been handed out at random.

CarrieBlue · 11/11/2020 16:58

@Funkypolar - apologies if it wasn’t you, but this has been posted before and it is still a stupid idea

throwaway10000 · 11/11/2020 16:59

No point. How long is your test valid for? I tested negative last month, so can I wear the wristband now?

FTMF30 · 11/11/2020 17:00

It makes me think of the Songbird movie

Mochudubh · 11/11/2020 17:08

@Marmite27

Are they going to give out yellow stars too Angry
Quite! I'm no conspiracy theorist but this was my first thought (perhaps influenced by watching the Rob Rinder doc the other night).
2bazookas · 11/11/2020 17:26

That's like wearing a white wedding dress to show the world you're still a virgin.

slipperywhensparticus · 11/11/2020 17:33

They dont even know how effective the vaccine will be long term the antibodies don't stay in everyone's system at the same rate

WhentheDealGoesDown · 11/11/2020 17:36

Ha, ha, and how long are they proposing you an wear the negative wristband, how ridiculous, which idiot though of that

insancerre · 11/11/2020 17:38

I’d rather there was a wristband that identified the idiots who voted Tory

JuanNil · 11/11/2020 17:43

Will the band change colour if you contract the virus after testing negative? If so, I'm surprised it hasn't already been implemented! The bastards Grin
