Is Wales shut forever?

I live in England and my parents live in Wales. Wales is due to emerge from its lockdown on Nov 9. But it looks like even then I won't be able to go to their house or garden. I don't fully understand the rules but they seem to have a rule of 4 outside so even if we wanted to meet in the park I couldn't bring DH and DC. Is there any date when I can go and see them or they will be allowed to come and see me?

Does anyone understand the rules from Nov 9 or even from Dec 2 when England should be out of lockdown?

It’s not once wakes opens up, it’s once England’s lockdown is finished.
From then, in line with welsh rules, so depending on English rules, you could form a bubble/extended household whatever you want to call it, but basically in Wales my family of 5 have created a bubble with next doors household of 3...that’s allowed, regardless of anyone’s ages.

From today, I can meet outside or inside a pub/restaurant with 3 other people plus kids under 12.

So yes Wales is open for now, but until December 2nd you’re stuck at home

From today, I can meet outside or inside a pub/restaurant with 3 other people plus kids under 12.

The problem is that I have a DH and one 12 year old DS so our only option is the extended bubble it seems.

M father is also not well enough to go to a pub or restaurant. He would want me to go to his house.

I'm actually not sure OP isn't right to say Wales is closed - as I understand it cross-border travel is banned by the new Welsh rules (except under certain circumstances, one of which would be where a household bubble has been formed, so OP will be ok to visit if that's what they've done) and these are not set to expire until next February.

I'm hoping that the rules will be changed when the English lockdown ends, but I've seen no guarantee of that from the Welsh Government at all. Happy to be pointed towards one if it exists.

@110APiccadilly I thought the travel ban between England and Wales was just until English lockdown ends?

Racoonworld · 09/11/2020 12:40

@mocktail depends what tier you're put in after lockdown. Wales were banning Tier 3 areas before.

110APiccadilly · 09/11/2020 12:52

@mocktail They may change the law, but the current law as written seems to ban leaving or entering Wales without reasonable excuse - no mention of English lockdown. But that is just my understanding and I'm not a lawyer.

Can’t you deliver them some care?

Calmandmeasured1 · 09/11/2020 17:07

I am not sure we would be allowed to go to their house even from December 2 but I am finding the rules very confusing. Would love to be corrected.
Nobody knows what tier the area you live in will be placed after Wednesday 2nd December so nobody can answer your question.
